Looks to be the case since it runs to Thursday morning.

i think after the 7th is a bigger storm possibility. All northern stream stuff until then. CMC has had this look last two runs.

Nice, Pgh area upped to 4-6 range through Thursday am. I am sitting at about 1/3 inch so far today. Have lucked out with the snow sitting over my area.

I got about an inch out of squalls earlier, with lighter snows  and blowing snow continuing.

VERY windy. I think peak gust at the airport was 61.

NWS mentioned some decent upper level support as well.

Another relative lull in snow is possible Wednesday afternoon,
before a more significant shortwave trough and reinforcing cold
front drop in from the Great Lakes for New Years Eve into New
Years Day. Renewed cold advection and WNW flow will likely add
lake and upslope influences. There may even be upper support
from the left exit region of an upper jet diving into the Middle
Ohio Valley. Along with better moisture, this sets the stage
for an accumulating snow across the region Wednesday afternoon
into Thursday. Current first- guess snow totals would have 6-7
inches in the ridges from Fayette County on south, and 2-5
inches elsewhere. Given these totals and the potential impact to
holiday festivities, a Winter Storm Watch is being issued for
the ridge zones from Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning.
Snow would then begin to taper off Thursday afternoon as
lingering lake effect/upslope snow showers.

Definitely a signal for a storm around that period. Trough looks a little to far East as depicted for us, but it will all be different in 12 hours anyways.

These bands tonight mean business. Can't believe the news stations tonight were saying, snow won't be an issue. If things go well overnight I think I  could hit 4 inches.

Yeah, I may have a couple inches now where I'm at just eyeballing it right now. Even my NWS forecast was "chance of snow" and "less than a half inch". Sometimes you can get lucky in these bands and get hit pretty good.

Avella, Wash county near Ohio border - 7”.

Someone might pop 10” down there!  Not sure we have any posters in the middle of that, but figure some of the south hills posters will have a decent amount. 

Unreal - we do all this “work” sometimes to bring home big snows. Then every once in awhile this happens. 

(Sadly, I’m sitting under 2” for this, but hoping something better oscillates in)

Awesome glad to see some folks getting under the snow bands. I got in a few last week and got dumped on. These ones missed me to the south this time. Only about a coating to 1/2" here.

8” report from an area basically right by the Meadows. And it’s not moving.  I’m partially fascinated and partially jealous.

That reminds me of the LE band from January 2024 where I got 8 inches and someone got I think 11 in that band. Hope that band thru Wash CO just comes a few miles north. I think there are several on this board right along AGC and Wash Co border who would benefit.
