I’m still holding on to Wednesday night being my goal post in terms of how I feel about the event. Things will continue to shift

I was using last weeks storm. Things changed big time last tue night 0z model run. So far so good on this storm. Lets see if 12z still is a hit on the gfs.

Some models show snow starting Friday night so need to start seeing some consistency soon

Most of the models now are showing some snow for RVA. I think sometimes we have to remember our true climatology here lol and be thankful for what we've been getting. Last year was fun and this year has been good also so far. And SE of RVA/the peninsula etc, definitely getting snow this weekend

agreed. Any snow I get here in Midlo Im very thankful from what we have had the last 5 years or so. This winter has been great imo. Havent seen cold like this in a long time. Id be happy with a 4-8 event this weekend. I never fall in love with these 1-2ft totals. They almost never come to fruition.

I should’ve said agreement instead of consistency. GFS has been consistent. Want to see more model agreement

As far as climatology Richmond is on a rather long streak of no major snow. When I say major I mean over 6 inches. There hasn't been that since Decber 2018.

So, I really would like to see 7-8 inches at least, but I expect this is going to be another 4 inch storm after seeing the 6z Euro

Yes, and I would love to break that streak.  However, the early December snows, this storm and stretch of cold, this has been the most extended stretch of "winter look and feel" since 2015.  I hope we get clobbered this weekend but also with @mikeeng92 and if we get some snow on snow (always feel dirty typing that) I am going to call this winter a raging success for RVA.

No doubt  Three storms this winter have put good snow cover in my neighborhood

Midlo seasonal avg is 10-13 inches. Have had at least 8 so far with the early Dec Monday snow and this last one

You actually taught me to be more thankful for the snow we get. I walked my dogs yesterday and I felt like it was from the movie the day after tomorrow I was just walking on top of the snow because it was all frozen lol. We've gone years without any accumulating snow and it hasn't been that long ago -a few years ago we went what -five or six years? I'm so thankful for the snow cover we have right now and I'm pretty sure we're gonna get anywhere between 3 to 6 inches of these this weekend especially with rates

I’m glad you took that away from my past comments.

For me, I just find it frustrating the way that people in certain regions complain about “never” getting snow, when they’ve had multiple monster snowstorms in the last 10-15 years.

That’s all.

It’s a fiction that persists. And if they get another one, I’ll be happy for them. But don’t then go saying you never get anything the following season.

I’m also just getting kinda crotchety the older I get because the over the last few years, cold weather has started causing me significant bone pain.

I still love a good snowstorm IF it happens, but this kind of cold can kick rocks.

I’m looking forward to it being in the 40s next week.

Can someone make an argument that will lead me to believe that I will NOT get at least 6 inches of snow in Chesapeake/VA Beach?

I'm supposed to be out of town this weekend and fly back on Sunday.  I really want to go on the trip, but I'm not sure, in good conscience, I can go and leave my wife and three kids to fend for themselves until I get back.

Got to see how the rest of today’s 12z runs go

ICON is a big miss for everyone except extreme SEVA. Not so good trends so far in the 12z suite

ICON has always been a miss.. GFS running and if that goes away from what its been showing then its a wrap. If its hold we still in the game. Pretty easy now
