1979 Windsor Locks Tornado

CT Rain

Likewise with any major historical tornado (Tri-State, et al). It's just so hard to know if it was continuous because settlements were more sparse, and observations/accounts are limited to towns.

Given the track of the cell (to the SE) and the fact it dropped a tor nearly to the Sound you can easily envision the setup which is pretty cool. NW flow event with an EML probably?

No doppler radar back then, sadly lol

I'm a big fan of NW flow events. Tornado tracks suggest a similar pattern for 1821 as well.

Exciting new BDL tornado information! I tracked down 2 papers on the BDL tornado. They're conference preprints from 1980 and I had our summer weather intern who goes to Penn State track it down at the library.

He scanned in both papers and the links are below. Pretty interesting stuff. The first one is definitely the best...

It's as if the tstm was the low itself...mesocyclone..meso low. That was an awesome take. That was such a localized event with pressure falls aiding in shear and likely localized CAPE too.
