  1. Quite the downpour on the UWS, finally letting up a bit. I think this is the 4th or 5th day in a row with NYC area airports holding departures and arrivals which is once again causing significant downstream delays.
  2. Yes it worked out for some but it was not a widespread event. I just think it's confusing to most people as many thought the last few days would be washouts.
  3. It feels like they've had "heavy rain" as the "headline" for each of the past several days. It's confusing since its been so isolated.
  4. Completely agree. I get the need for rain but this persistent cloud cover in June is terrible. These stuck patterns are becoming more frequent in recent years.
  5. Yes was just about to say: they are both Chancellor's/Clerical Days
  6. Just nasty outside, went to pick up a sandwich and it looked and smelled considerably worse than yesterday and likely to get even worse. Busted out my good old KN95, didnt think they would come in handy this quickly!
  7. Jealous. It was sort of an "interesting" experience last night here in NYC due to the rarity but it actually sucks. Smells awful and not pleasant breathing it all in. Looking forward to when this clears up later in the week!
  8. Yea one of those "over the top" scenarios we've been seeing a lot of over the past several years. Montreal has been warmer since this past weekend.
  9. Yea I didn't notice it much
  10. Absolute garbage, bring on the heat!
  11. Thanks for this! I've felt like there have been a bit too many posts about how dry it is and drought like conditions (before this weekend) and how badly we've needed the rain. To me, any dry spells we've had in the past 10+ years have been fairly short lived with reservoir levels never really falling too drastically. I remember much drier conditions in the 80s and 90s.
  12. Such a garbage pattern setting up (likely wont see the sun again until Monday afternoon!) - but they do tend to happen around this time of year so can't say its too surprising.
  13. Another weekend ruined, boo. This should put a temporary stop to the frequent "we desperately need the rain" comments, lol
  14. Philly high temps (Th, Fri Sat): 77, 85, 77 NYC (Manhattan) high temps: 64, 72, 69 We are on the wrong side if you ask me but i know many of you here prefer it that way!
  15. Awful, often sets up just north of Philly
  16. True but on average the congestion in the Bronx is better. Also depends if you are heading up from the west side of Manhattan as you only then need to clear Riverdale which often is less congested than the rest of the Bronx.
  17. There are plenty of highways on LI, espec in western sections. I think part of the problem is the high population density in Nassau and that to get in and out of LI you HAVE to go thru an even denser Queens. For Westchester, once you are out of Manhattan the density falls off dramatically which, combined with numerous highway/parkway options makes it a quicker ride.
  18. I don't thing people necessarily trust the NAM (outside of 24h) but we had basically gone all winter without one of those classic "we've been NAMd" runs so it illicited a reaction from us that we haven't had in a year or so!
  19. I think up to 4" is a good call for the city at the moment but if the 12z runs hold then it may be time to up them.
  20. Snowman is knowledgeable (more than most including myself) but almost always harps on the least snowy solution. It's served him well in this garbage of a winter but I recall several instances over the years where he was proven wrong.
  21. Wow I'd be thrilled even if those numbers in NYC were halved
  22. Moderate snow in the UWS, not sticking (as usual)
  23. Ensembles will be interesting as the Op may continue to be an anomaly.
  24. Yea it's rare but it can happen. I'll never forget that Feb '10 storm (I think?) where NYC was being dumped on and Boston was raining in the 50s. That track was so insane that the rain/snow line was north/south oriented so even places north but just east of NYC saw mixing or even rain (I was living in Armonk which is northeast of NYC and I remember that for a time it was mixing while NYC was snowing).
