  1. Yeah, I’ve been noticing places just outside the path of totality have higher prices but the gouging isn’t crazy bad. Considering getting a place 80% of the way there, stay overnight Sunday, and finish the drive Monday so it’s not too painful. As you can probably tell I’ve had a lot of ideas lol but hardly a fleshed out plan. Not a good sign
  2. My litmus test has been, do I have a better than 50/50 shot anywhere within 6 hours or so? Gonna rely on Tomer’s tool for cities (linked below) tomorrow and make a final call around this time. Increasingly likely my chase partner (girlfriend) ditches me tomorrow lol so I kinda don’t want to solo if it’s a tough call. http://arctic.som.ou.edu/tburg/products/realtime/eclipse/
  3. Another valid concern. Saw a funny tweet about people (likely) getting stuck in the mud in Maine with the recent snow as they try and go off-road to get where they need to be. Seems probable enough haha.
  4. If I got the energy I think I could make it to Burlington, VT, or the area surrounding Lake Champlain in general. It’s not that much further. Maine is too far and honestly too rural in the totality path.
  5. I’m unwilling to make the drive that far… which may be dumb. But that’s the smart place to be! Take some cool photos.
  6. I still can’t tell what makes sense between a range of Columbus, OH, and around Rochester, NY. Guess I’ll wait another day before deciding!
  7. Was just coming to check. Didn’t feel anything a few floors up in DC.
  8. I’m shifting my attention to the Syracuse area. Realizing it’s really not much further than SWNY and the forecast seems slightly brighter there. Here’s hoping.
  9. It’s better than nothing, but can you see the corona through high clouds? Or is it just easier to see it go dark?
  10. If this one doesn’t pan out I may buy my tickets to Spain 2026 pretty quickly. Australia 2028 also isn’t bad.
  11. Almost more fun than snow tracking. Also fun to keep perusing random PA/NY towns to figure out which small town I’d camp in for day. Dewittville? Sure why not
  12. I’m still rooting for western PA or NY, but it’s looking worse. Don’t think I can stomach a one day trip all the way into the far northeast - we’ll see!
  13. HRRR has persistently had a solid cell tracking through Central VA this afternoon. Tough to believe while we’re sitting here stuck in the #wedge
  14. Not looking forward to making the call on Sunday. Room for things to change back but things looked much better a few days ago. Karma for rooting for Texas’ downfall lol.
  15. https://x.com/nwswpc/status/1774862804463538444?s=46&t=YRAxGyE8QLsoshMtJniktg Not ideal for anyone… unless you are in Missouri, Arkansas, or really in the NE. We’ll see!
  16. I’m okay with NC State beating Duke. They can go no further though. as a UVA grad of my generation, our rivalry is VT > Duke > UNC > everyone else and you’d make a compelling argument to stick JMU in the mix if we could play them more… think it would be good to get them in the commonwealth clash mix somehow.
  17. Can’t root for NC State since UVA should’ve put them away in the ACC tourney… rooting for the most boring outcome (UConn)
  18. and, if the CMC is right, PSU will have 6” of snow by the end of the week
  19. I’m becoming more interested in NW Pennsylvania or SWNY as opposed to Ohio as my eclipse destination. Haven’t been to that part of the state and have never seen one of the Great Lakes. Maybe make it a 2-for-1er.
  20. Some T&L. Didn’t realize it til I saw the flash off my balcony.
  21. Texas [emoji88] Nothing looks great… at least the NE has a shot.
  22. People have been jokingly suggesting an eclipse severe weather outbreak. Would be very funny if it happened. $1,000,000 to whoever gets an eclipse tornado photo
  23. Why I refuse to book flights and hotels for things like this. I’d be panicking. I’ll hop in my car and hope for the best!
