  1. Pretty cool sunset this evening (followed by an almost full moonrise!):
  2. Well, I did see a glow worm last night.
  3. We've seen a few here as well over the last week or so. Not sure how that works, usually see them in the spring.
  4. Almost... Saw a lightning bug out back last night, 3 or 4 confirmation flashes to boot. First time I've seen one in October.
  5. Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm hoping the warm weather hangs on for another 10 days or so, once it turns it's pretty much game over at this time of year. One year I had frost blankets with heaters underneath (don't tell anyone lol), don't really want to repeat that experience.
  6. Not all of them, just the hilly areas in the back, lol.
  7. It was mentioned in Mt. Holly's forecast discussion, but the meso models didn't nail the details so well. Got 1.15" here, plenty of thunder and lightning along with the sound of some grass seed getting washed down a hill, lol.
  8. Bit of an overperformer here, forecast low was 49F, made it to 47F. First time below 50 here this fall.
  9. Eta - turned into a severe warned storm. Raining pretty good here (boohoo).
  10. Yep, getting thunder and lightning, gonna head up to the porch soon. Hope it moves through fast, just set up sprinklers for another seeded area.
  11. Wound up with 0.96" here, nice rain event, although probably moved a few grass seeds around as hard as it came down.
  12. Getting some pretty vigorous action here with the reds on the radar moving in. Pouring, windy, thunder and lightning. Eta under a severe t'storm warning now.
  13. Lol, yup. As far as warm and humid goes, yup to that too. Just started prepping another area and my shirt is partially wet so far. Really not too bad though, at least it's not in the 80's. I've pretty much come to expect this kind of weather in September, but it would be nice if October had a boatload of days in the 60s.
  14. Lol I'll be out there tonight with the fuzz lamp (aka the snow lamp in winter) looking for sprouts. Might be a day early or so but we'll see. Exciting times!
  15. Had a light shower about an hour ago, enough to wet the surface. 71F currently, DP 69.
  16. Looking at these charts, I would say that a chilly fall does not mean more snow. Neither does a warm fall apparently! This has been discussed before, but I'm not a fan of early winter weather because usually it evolves into a boring winter (exceptions to every rule of course!). Maybe do a chart of the fall temps preceding the snowier winters? Glenmore has one year with a cool fall that precedes a snowy winter, 2013, but the other sites don't have 2013 anywhere in the top ten. No doubt there were some cool falls preceding a snowy winter, but mostly before my time it appears.
  17. I was driving east on 322 in South Jersey today, and not being familiar with the area didn't realize we were getting near Mullica Hill. The damage to the trees and houses told the story pretty quickly. It was something to see.
  18. Since I have a well and can water liberally I actually don't mind dry weather for seeding. I just prepped the front left yesterday (about 25k sq.ft.), have a wedding to go to today, but should get the seed down tomorrow. I've had a few experiences with having seeded and watching the forecast evolve from a 30% chance of showers 5 days out, to HEAVY RAIN 3 days later, after the seed is down, with 3 to 5" of rain. Oh well, lol. Still gotta go for it on most occasions, because it's the weather. Sometimes we get "just the right amount" of rain. Eta - so for me, seeding has sometimes meant inches of rain as opposed to a drought. Kind of like the getting your car washed effect.
  19. Had a single lightning bug carrying on last night out front, those guys have pretty much packed it in. Heard plenty of Katydids early, but they did quiet down (and slow the cadence down) as the night wore on. Made it down to 59 here, currently 69 with dp 54.
  20. Picked up 0.40" of rain here overnight and this morning. Brightening up here with the setting sun finding some holes in the cloud cover.
  21. Pretty hefty rainfall north and west...if that's correct looks like the storms will be doing the fizzle/fade as they move south and east.
  22. Some gasolines smell better than others, but yeah, in small doses. Sharpies are nice too. Final rain total here was 4.1". Enjoying the sudden fall weather!
  23. Wowza regarding this storm. Pretty much as advertised, overall. Power is back on here, up to 3.7" of rain so far, feels like things are quieting down, although still some more showers in the pipeline.
