  1. Since I have a well and can water liberally I actually don't mind dry weather for seeding. I just prepped the front left yesterday (about 25k sq.ft.), have a wedding to go to today, but should get the seed down tomorrow. I've had a few experiences with having seeded and watching the forecast evolve from a 30% chance of showers 5 days out, to HEAVY RAIN 3 days later, after the seed is down, with 3 to 5" of rain. Oh well, lol. Still gotta go for it on most occasions, because it's the weather. Sometimes we get "just the right amount" of rain. Eta - so for me, seeding has sometimes meant inches of rain as opposed to a drought. Kind of like the getting your car washed effect.
  2. Had a single lightning bug carrying on last night out front, those guys have pretty much packed it in. Heard plenty of Katydids early, but they did quiet down (and slow the cadence down) as the night wore on. Made it down to 59 here, currently 69 with dp 54.
  3. Picked up 0.40" of rain here overnight and this morning. Brightening up here with the setting sun finding some holes in the cloud cover.
  4. Pretty hefty rainfall north and west...if that's correct looks like the storms will be doing the fizzle/fade as they move south and east.
  5. Some gasolines smell better than others, but yeah, in small doses. Sharpies are nice too. Final rain total here was 4.1". Enjoying the sudden fall weather!
  6. Wowza regarding this storm. Pretty much as advertised, overall. Power is back on here, up to 3.7" of rain so far, feels like things are quieting down, although still some more showers in the pipeline.
  7. Had some heavy rain come through, added a little over an inch, up to 2.13" now. Some lightning, mainly ctc. Interestingly it's gotten pretty windy here on the tail end of it, lots of wet leaves flying around.
  8. Just had a couple of showers move through, added 0.20" to the 0.85 inches received early this morning, total so far is 1.05". The sun came out for about 5 minutes before the showers, that's about it for sun today it would appear.
  9. Picked up 0.07" from a little sun shower around 3 pm, brings the monthly total for August here to 2.61". High was 86F, currently 81 with dp at 75. Feels like we're in some kind of weather bubble here between the monthly rainfall and with 90's all around, lol.
  10. Been hearing thunder here to the north, south, and east, and the radar confirms it, surrounded on 3 sides. Been mainly sunny here most of the day, high was 90F, currently 87, dp 74.
  11. Made it to 90F here today, currently 88, dp 74.
  12. The dewpoint the last few days hasn't been too bad (69 yesterday), I mean not difficult to sweat if you're outside doing stuff, but this morning were back to "ugh" here, at 74. Current temp is 77F.
  13. Picked up another refreshing 0.14" from one of those showers. Storm total is now 1.25", monthly total 2.29". Steamy driveway here.
  14. Got an additional 0.74" overnight, hubba hubba! Brings the storm total to 1.11" here. Put a nice dent in the August rainfall for here, monthly total is up to 2.15". Nice day for the beginning of our next toasty spell.
  15. 0.37" here event total so far after being tickled by the southern edge of that Atlantic fire hose since about 2 am. Most rain this month in a single event so far, puts mby at 1.41" for the month. Maybe more later on, we shall see - pretty much done for the moment. Nice morning all things considered, 71F currently.
  16. Found this guy earlier walking up the hill out near the street, moving away from the creek. Maybe he saw the mesoscale discussion. We put him in the back yard and pointed him back towards the creek. He's a snapper, pretty small.
  17. HRRR for the win if it happens. It's fading/gone on most other models. Kind of rooting for it, otherwise it'll be pretty much a snoozefest here it would seem, as Henri waves as he passes by NJ.
  18. There's also a possibility of a PRE (Predecessor Rain Event) which could give us a dump of rain before it gets to our latitude.
  19. Yes it has, at least down this way. Not worried about it now, July was wet enough, and one or two heavy storms could get us back close to normal. In the meantime maybe we'll have some lower humidity in a week or so, although today wasn't too bad, partly due to the breeze.
