Finished with 3.40”. Pavement quickly dried up with the gusty winds and some sun. The ground however should remain a sponge cake for the foreseeable future.
-
Up to 3.35” now. Was 59F at midnight, currently 49F. Birdbath is overflowing so the critters will be happy. Neighbor’s inflatable penguin is swaying back and forth on the lawn, so winds are starting to pick up.
-
3.25” so far, sump pumps cranking away, 52F.

The first outer bands are here, picked up .10” already. 50F

Good mow yesterday (and I didn’t get stung by any yellow jackets). The last time I mowed was around Halloween. I mainly wanted to mulch the leaves but was surprised how much the grass had grown since late October.
It looks like this storm is a Miller A? That has to be a good sign. They’ve been rare in recent years. And even if it was cold, this looks like it’s taking an inland track, so we’d be flipping to rain anyway.

Think I’ll sneak in one more mow out front today — mulch up the remaining leaves and cut the grass low so if we ever do break our 1” snow drought it will look like a BECS out there.
Hope I don’t stir up any yellow jackets.

For most of us in this subforum this is a super long shot in receiving anything.
No blow torch which is good but nothing really to follow except rain Sun/Mon...
39F/Expected low 23F
Not that it matters this far out but the 18z GFS takes that low up over Pittsburgh and into western NY. If that happened we might have a good shot at severe.

You got 3" in Doylestown? I'm going off your location.
2.9" total qpf over here near NPHS. Just a T of snow.

Just under 3" here. It dumped between 6-7 last night, probably got an inch in that hour alone. Wind was a no show, which is fine, didn't feel like running after trash cans and Christmas decorations. And yes, a coating of snow on grassy surfaces to wrap things up.
Biggest question for the entire country east of the Mississippi...did PSU get his inch???

Ch 10 guy at 11 said snow is not a concern for us. Maybe he meant accumulation wise. He did say the other day he does love snow, so there’s that.

18z GFS not hating the idea of some frozen mixing in.

We got NAMed again
Even if it doesn’t snow, still so much better than last year already. At least there’s junk & stuff to track.

Ironically isn't this the window where ppl were saying we would torch in early Dec? Yet this would be the 3rd time already (4th total) in Dec we see flakes. Trend thus far is it wants to snow. Can't wait to see where we're at 3 or 4 weeks from now.
Seriously! If I didn’t have windows and my only access to weather info was this board, you’d think we’ve consistently been in the 60’s and 70’s this month.
Some years we can’t buy a flake, but early signs are the atmosphere can produce frozen for us this year.
-
I don’t think we ever got NAM’ed last year. My bar is set low for this one, just hoping to see flakes flying.

NAM at range but maybe some wet, mangled flakes to wrap thing up Monday am (while RedSky sleeps)?

This! Who knows how this winter will ultimately unfold. But getting three "events" in the last 10 days during what some are hyping as the most hostile December for snow in the history of western civilization can't be a bad omen heading forward.

Something has to freeze first before there can be a thaw...just sayin'.
