  1. These tables are in a pretty sheltered place. I’m not trying to suppress numbers, we just haven’t gotten much yet.
  2. I can only hope I’m wrong. The last big synoptic storm pounded me with some of the heaviest rates I’ve ever seen and we still somehow only managed 11 inches. It’s just hard to get a truly big one these days. But I will admit the upstream moisture feed right now is very impressive.
  3. Winds are starting to pick up nicely out of the north now. Blowing and drifting should be significant overnight! I’ll be able to provide a good number as soon as I get home and clear the board.
  4. I've only walked outside my building and poked around. It's just not amounting to much. It's like magic snow, except its not the fun kind of magic...
  5. You cut that number in half and you get 9-10 inches which seems right on track to be honest, and I'd be more than happy with 10 for this storm.
  6. On a positive note, temp is down to 24 and the sun sets in an hour or so which certainly plays in our favor
  7. Roc creeping along at a snails pace, right around 2 inches so far. Got a long way to go to hit the 12-18 but deeper moisture is finally starting to show up on radar.
  8. This map certainly has the most reasonable numbers. Seems like Buffalo will go higher than those but overall I think this is where we end up. A great storm for almost this whole forum (Sorry Catskills posters )
  9. Probably only a new inch on the ground here so far, max diurnal heating right now which is hurting us. Things should really ramp up later this afternoon with sunset and the primary push of moisture. I can see some subtle hints of lake enhancement on a NNE wind. I'm being patient with such a nice long duration event.
  10. Maybe I could install some turbines or fans in the bed of the truck to give it a boost of wind as I cruise through the "impassable" roads.
  11. Yeah, it actually takes a lot of the fun out of storms with how well things are handled around here. Some nights when I'm out chasing I get so sad when I see a plow ruining all the fun. Would love to have a storm where there were no plows or salts trucks for 24 hours. Just let that snow pile up on the roads!
  12. Moderate snow with respectable dendrites right now! A nice start to things. Going to be tough getting work done today and I'll be in a lab with no windows
  13. Hope you have a great trip. You ended getting a WAY better weekend than I did. I’d do anything to be driving to Vermont today in a storm. All my favorite things in one.
  14. Lots of glancing blows from clippers with deep arctic air/lake effect chances in the next couple weeks. This winter will a solid “B” for me if the latest Gfs run tonight verified verbatim. Quite the pattern we’ve been in for awhile now. If this current storm give us a foot we’ll have well over a foot on the ground for the better part of the next two weeks which is actually highly unusual even for this typically snowy area; and especially in light of recent climate change. If we keep a foot or better snowpack for 12 days it would be only the third time since the mid 1980s. Quite the feat!
  15. If that’s the real rain snow line, it’s surging through now! Things should start changing over fast
  16. Hell it could even end up being the biggest general synoptic event for some of us for the next couple of years. It’s happened before.
  17. Rain snow line is holding strong but the last few frames it starts making a little progress SE if you look over western Lake Ontario.
  18. No, this is the regional map that is always out to lunch.
  19. I think things will pick up once we change over. Seems like tomorrow evening will be the prime time.
  20. I guess this is the logic but I pass a delta sonic a lot of days and it's slammed regardless of temperature. I mean even days in the teens and the line is long.
  21. Taking your last statement, you are only getting about 12 hours at most with the salt off. Not a good return on investment. Just my two cents, you do you man. It's not my money.
  22. Well I washed my truck when I got home from Vemont on Sunday, which gave me a few days to enjoy a clean truck and let it dry out. Just seems like if you waited until today it was too late. I'll probably wash it again this weekend after these next couple days of chasing and when we have a solid week or so before the next storm.
  23. What's the logic to getting a car wash 12 hours before it will be absolutely obliterated with salt and road slop? I could see getting it this previous Sunday when you would have gotten a few days of dry roads.
  24. Probably 6-8pm, sunset will start to accelerate the fronts progress a bit as diurnal cooling lends a hand.
