Thoughts on the fact that GFS this past Sunday showed temps around zero for Central Va on 2/8 and Euro did for 2/9 but starting Tue drastically changed that to overnight lows around freezing for those nights. Why do you feel this will be different for 10-14 day?

Looks like there is more substantial snow moving south on 95 that is almost into Ruther Glen right now, on a beeline towards Richmond.

Very fine light snow falling in Glen Allen near Staples Mill Rd and 295. Thin coating on cars.

Oh and BTW RVA and suburbs finished with more snow than.DC even if they get another inch from the second part of this system haha.

So I live just northwest of Richmond, Va but grew up in SJ and spent my first forty years of life there haha, so I give myself permission to weigh in. IMHO I don’t think the 10:1 ratio maps will turn out to be accurate. It’s possible but I believe “total snow depth” consistently ends up being closer to the final outcome. For instance where I live the 10:1 map showed 8” of snow. The snow depth map showed 3.5 to 4” especially the short term models late. We had moderate snow from 6am to 11am and hovered between 28° and 30° and indeed got about 4”. I think The Delaware Valley does great but those totals on the NAM 10:1 seem real overdone.

You’re the met so this comes with a great deal of respect but that was four days ago and showed that kind of historic snow for 2 runs. And I think one of them was 18z. The GFS wasn’t close the other way for run after run for days. Euro at least corrected quickly, and has been very consistent since.

Gfs has close to zero surface temps for next Mon 6am. Euro holds it back a day. That’s freezer cold.
