Weak sauce as expected, yet somehow just enough to take out my power since 1:00pm. Tree or branches down on the wires down the road.

Some rotation again in Windham County near Scotland/Hampton
Structure looked amazing when I left work in Norwichtown around 2:30pm. Wish I'd had time stop and take pictures of it.

I mean I posted it earlier in the other thread but a guy I work with had his home damaged by a fallen tree during a t storm this summer and the insurance wants to give him like 5% of what it’s going to cost to fix it.
Insurance is great in theory, never in practice.

I was in the hospital for an extended stay, triple bypass. I had a leak in the bedroom bath, came back to mold everywhere. I contracted ServPro (i would never recommend) Claim adjuster came out and approved claim. I could go on...8 months later, 35k lighter. Insurance paid dime to dollar. I considered a lawyer...
Next time I will get 100% cost of repair!27 minutes ago, Ginx snewx said:7 months to get reimbursed for my roof damage from Irene but they paid in full 11k
I know not everyone can get it, but if you're in the military or a vet, or married someone who is, USAA is THE insurance to get. Zero issues putting in claims for my cars. 1 deer strike $7k and one parking lot fender bender $3.5k two years apart paid in less than a week each time. Another time 10+ years ago I was in fight with a pickup truck fender while riding my bicycle. Carbon fiber frame snapped in two. USAA homeowners coverage paid current market value for a replacement frame and parts even though it was a 4 year old bike and I wasn't anywhere near my house when it happened.
There's a reason other insurance companies have the nick names they do: Snake Farm, AllSnake, etc...
In Lee related news, looks like the ERC is well underway. Perhaps tomorrow AM we'll wake to a much larger eye. Always love the way those look in the early AM.

New London county rain shield in full effect again today.
And of course an hour later the shield is down as storms back build to the south...keep blowing up just north of the house. Nice rumbles of thunder.

Decent amount of acorns this year but a bumper crop of hickory nuts. All the Shagbarks in the woods behind the house are dropping giant hickory nuts.
The Tulip trees have been very slowly dropping bright orange leaves for a couple of weeks now, but that's pretty normal for them.
I did notice that our big Schwedler Maple has dropped a whole bunch of brown dried up leaves in the past few days. It never really gets bright colors in the fall but it seems pretty early to be dropping lots of leaves.
In other news, still warm and more humid than any day this week today. 85/77 currently IMBY. I see KSNC is 84/79. Sticky out there. -

Heh...we shall see. I'll take the overwhelming odds that Lee is not going to hit New England. Still at least it's something fun to track and if nothing else should bring some great swell for surfing and boarding.

Nice warm summer day. Currently 88/72.
Anyone else still dealing with Deer Flies and/or Black flies? This is easily the latest into the warm season I've ever seen them.
Deer flies were unrelenting up until about a week ago. Only saw/heard one or two on today's walk. Usually they are done by last week of July or first week of August.
Black flies are still going strong though. A couple of lulls as various species died off, but then a new batch (or another species) hatches and it's Black flies in the eyes and ears all over again. Ridiculously annoying.
Need a good hurricane to blow them all to Canada.

Except that 92% of us on this board want a direct hit with damage
As much as the tracking, observations, wind and rain would be a blast, I can really do without living on a generator for a week or more. Done that more than enough times in the 14 years at this place. (11 days for Irene, 5 days for Sandy, a week for Isaias and a bunch of other times for various storms)

Tons of acorns down here in the woods. Lots of different species. Not very many from the giant red oak near our driveway though. Absolute bumper crop of hickory nuts this year.
Like you've noticed, most leaves around here look like crap. Brown or spotted and diseased looking.
