My Tasseography reading from this morning said big snow is coming next week for all of SNE.

Snowing from MRG all the way down to Mount Snow. Looks like the accumulations are above 2'500' right now. Snowing at Stratton/Mount Snow summits, rain at the base.

It was a frightening experience for a then 17 year old. I had to cross alone, German citizens couldn't cross at Checkpoint Charlie and my uncle couldn't come with me.

My Mom and uncle would tell me that snow in Wiesbaden in the 40's and 50's was a regular Wintertime occurance.

The S.S Portland storm and a tremendous amount of coastal damage.

Nice storm, but bad timing for the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. It destroyed the Superman and Woody The Woodpecker balloons. Last time they tried to fly the Superman balloon. Only 1997 was worse weather-wise for the parade. The Winter after the insane cold wave in December 1989 was not the best.

Great snowmaking temperatures coming soon. Not every year that happens in early November.

Hopefully a great SNE Winter incoming with a very favorable storm track, yippee.

I'm not sure what snow I ran into driving up to Sugarloaf in early January of 1996. I spent the night in the Eastland Hotel. It was -6F according to the bank thermometer. So much snow in Portland that you couldn't park a car on the street.

NWS is all rain here in Enfield.

The 1996 Blizzard snow was incredibly hard to shovel/clear with a snow blower. The wind created huge drifts.

I wasn't here for the blizzard, but skiing in Maine with -18F. But watched the news and it was mostly around 17F at my parents house during the storm.

1995-1996 says hello. January 1996 blizzard was with temperatures in the teens.

Record cold all winter long would be awesome. HHH folks migrating South.

Ski patrol shack thermometer at the top of Spillway was reading 43F. Also windy at the Summit from a Southerly direction. At one point it was 43F at the Top of Spillway and 17F at the base.

We only lost cable TV service at Sugarloaf. I went snowmobiling to Bigelow Lodge and the rental lady gave me her GSM phone in case I got stuck. Cell service was non existent up there due to tower collapse further South. I remember lots of low hanging branches and almost no room to turn around at the lodge. We couldn't go home due to a state of emergency and a ban on non essential travel. At Sugarloaf it was sleet from West Mountain on down, with boot deep sleet skiing on Windrow and Glancer It was like skiing in sand. Higher up it was rain and above freezing.
