Awful weather today. Humid and right around 60 degrees under low clouds and heavy drizzle.
60 degrees the humidity should not matter..

With all this warmth, let's go back 31 years ago to October 4th, 1987
Huge snowstorm north and NE of NYC
NW Jersey and Northern Westchester had 3 inches while further North way over a foot.
I remember just 30 to 40 miles up the thruway from NYC it was snowing as I was in it. WCBS AM also reported a sleet pellet in Hicksville NY
What a storm
i remember that storm it happened on the last day of the regular season in baseball.. nyc got down into the upper 30.s

Ike, Katrina, Isabel, Sandy. This storm is much closer to them in size, which is why the surge will be very impressive closer to what you'd see with a cat 3-4 storm.
ike was bigger sandy was much bigger then florence.. sandy was the largest tropical cyclone in the atlantic...

seems florence eye is collapsing

Yeah we'll see. I don't want to be that guy who overreacts to track deviations but this seems like more than a brief wobble.
this storm is already north of the nhc center position

Haha temps were between 65 and 70 and people are wearing jackets? The natives around here are turning into Floridians.
you got to remember where the temps have been and how they are now it's a huge difference..

There was not a single snowstorm over 10 inches in NYC between 1983 and 1993 which is absurd. Couple that with almost all the 90s sucking and other systems that may have occured on days off or weekends and it's not hard to understand why there was never any days off back then.
you forgot the blizzard of 1983 over 17 inches fell in central park....

The system behind 92L is being named as PTC 8 by NHC at 11am... so this will likely be the "I" named storm
no it would be named helene. since it will be a storm first before 92 L...

I don’t think I’ve ever seen heavy snow below 25 degrees. I wouldn’t be opposed to it though, cold air holds less moisture, we wouldn’t have to contend with the waterlogged muck that we generally get.
their been plenty of examples of heavy snow where the temps were under 25 degrees.. the 1996 blizzard even the 2010 christmas blizzard temps were around that mid 20's
