Although I'm excited for tomorrow, it does look like most of the northern counties are not going to fare too snowy.
-
This is by far the biggest snow of the year in Boone. Granted that's not saying much.

I can now confirm based on a lot of reports of thundersnow last night in Boone between 4 and 6 am.

Anyone know roughly about the time the changeover to snow started? We had a LOUD clap of thunder at roughly 415.
-
12z GFS actually has decent HP's coming down for a change.
-
Well, it's calm for now.
Edit* Radar currently says it's pouring in Boone. It's not raining a drop as of 3 minutes ago. For the first time since 10pm

3k NAM with a nice band of snow moving through NE GA up into NC on Saturday.
I've gone through the 3k nam run 7 times now and I sear that band completely skips Watauga and Ashe but snows around those counties lol

Majority of the precip setting up west of the 85 corridor until later today. Feel sorry for our mountain and foothill peeps this morning. Its gonna get ugly quick.
It's been ugly like this all winter, we're used to this lol.

Also, GFS and Nam (havent looked at 3k) both say what second round of snow? Basically.

It’s the Nam at range, if it showed a foot of snow would we believe it. Most models show at least some snow so let’s just enjoy what we can get, I still believe the models will come in wetter in future runs.
If it was a foot I would say it was its usual overamplification bias. The Nam showing nothing is a warning shot.

And here we go! Time for the deluge!

^its below freezing when it starts at 96 hours and stays at or below till the tail end.
Something didnt update when I was looking at the GFS. Thanks for noticing.

I'm looking at this weekend less optimistically than I normally would, I've got a gut feeling the potential NWFS on the backside of the front will not live up to the current hype, and that little Sunday system just doesn't excite me at all at this juncture. We will see what happens the next couple of days though, but secure everything you might worry about floating away, if you haven't already.

Can you imagine how muddy it'll be by Friday with 2 to 3 inches of rain on a completely thawed ground that is already super saturated? It ain't gonna be pretty.
Wont be any different from the past like year and a half lol. This weather just wont stop.

Yeah I like Cataloochee too. I just really like Sugar. Plus I can go eat at the Daniel Boone Inn one night
Don't go there. It's nowhere near as good as it used to be. Stay closer and go to the Banner Elk Cafe.

Props to the NAM for sticking to its guns. However in Boone were gonna get barely a dusting and if we get any drizzle itll disappear immediately. Hope you guys down south are loving it!!

Well slap me in the face. The GFS threw a tiny bit of snow in tomorrow night. But I mean a tiny amount.

Well it does appear that us northern folks will miss out on tomorrow event besides adding another dusting. Hopefully bigger and better things will come soon. (No I dont mean rain, that's guaranteed)
