I'm mostly ready to "meh" this in MBY. Seems like one of those days when south of the area gets hammered, though.
18z nam is back to being anti-meh. -
18z 3km NAM looks intriguing.
It looks kind of “flood watch”-y -
I hope that you found a paved trail to ride and stayed off the roads. People are crazy on a sunny and dry day.
I just ride a loop in my neighborhood. There’s one punchy hill that sorta mimics some of the mtb hills I ride. I’ve been doing that more so out of convenience so far this year, but I have experienced a couple of drivers that make me question whether they have a legitimate license.-

Another good soaker. I think the high today was 57F. Just crazy nice.
We’re not who we thought we were.-

I'm sad...that dude in Frederick can't play basketball much this week
Don’t be, I played some Fri, Sat and Sunday. Sunday was interesting…played 3s on a ~9’8 hoop. My body could use a couple days off, though next week’s forecast has me intrigued. -

Hush, you.
Today’s weather has been big time up here…definitely the nicest day of the weekend.-

I thought it was going to be sunny and 75 today? Looks socked in with clouds and even a few showers this morning.
This is one of those few times where Frederick is actually sunny while everywhere else to the south is cloudy. Satellite imagery is wild rn-

It’s nice out, but we’ve had to fight off some periodic clouds and wind the last couple days, though that’s normal in cool weather patterns around here.
I’m definitely ready for summer-like weather.-

It is. They do have some good building blocks that just need experience. Happy to see a vets like Middleton and Smart there to teach. Still miffed about the draft lottery; too much of a coincidence to not make you wonder. OKC did a great job building their team. Hoping the Wiz can do the same.
The fact that OKC still has some great draft capital left, is outrageous lol. Part of that was great timing because it was clear that Kawhi wanted to play alongside PG13, so OKC basically fleeced the Clippers. The Wiz had a chance to do something similar when Beal's stock was high, but they sat on it for too long and basically ended up having to cut their losses. I think they had a chance at getting 3-4 first rounders for Beal at his peak performance, which is one of the reasons I wasn't a huge fan of the new front office blowing things up, but I will say they've done a respectable job so far with the draft picks they've had (though Sarr is still a wildcard). Looks like Tre Johnson is who they're eyeing. I'm not sold on Queen at the NBA level, but if the Wiz are able to add another mid-first, then I'd consider rolling the dice.

Talking with my sons about the Wiz (One who played D3 and has friends in the NBA) and we were wondering why they don't look to hire Mike Malone or Taylor Jenkins. Both have built teams and with the young talent the Wiz do have, could be a good 2-3 year project to build a competitive team.
I think a hire like that is coming, but for now they seem content letting the team struggle/learn and get picks. One more year of this and it’ll be go time…if not sooner…if Keefe doesn’t show improvements. This upcoming draft is huge for them.-

For me the picture is becoming a little clearer: We have a GM who is absolutely fantastic at finding young talent and building the best farm system in the league. Because the young talent was so good the team rose to contention a year quicker than anybody thought! But unfortunately...this same GM has absolutely sucked at building around that young talent. In fact he was OVERfocused on young talent, smh And then...there seem to be other issues with the way he ran things overall that are still coming to light. (over emphasis on analytics may be one of those things).
As one analyst said earlier: It's one thing to get talent: It's another to win with it. And unfortunately...Elias just hasn't been good at the other side of the equation.
The wizards got hungry over advanced analytics, too. Some of the formulas in “Basketball on Paper” are wild (if you want to have fun, look up “individual offensive player rating”). I get it, it all comes down to points per possession, 3 > 2, a 3 = bucket and a free throw, etc etc, but you gotta put the right talent in place to implement some of these sabermetrics. Not to mention, advanced analytics are descriptive, not formulas that explicitly tell you how to win. Fun and interesting topic, but it can get overused. -
What is going on with the O's. They won 101 games in 2023 and 91 last year, and now 16-33. It defies logic.

Remarkable comeback by the sun here in Frederick to start the weekend.

Looks like snow flurries on the radar
It would be in the upper 20s/low 30s in January rn…and I’m glad it’s not. -

this is my fave late May weather. It makes summer shorter.
I'd like that temp/DP more if it wasn't majority cloudy and windy lol.

As of the latest update(yesterday) a small area in north central MD- much of Baltimore county and parts of Carroll and Harford- are still in a severe drought. Areas surrounding that are Moderate. Better further east- my yard is on the edge of abnormally dry, and nothing points S and E from there. But yeah there has been marked improvement in the past couple weeks. Not sure why he wouldn't be discussing that rather than being a hypester.
I'm not surprised. The ground is still drying pretty quickly given how much rain we've received.

Drove thru a brief torrential downpour on 70 west. There’s some meat to the clouds today

Radar looks much healthier than I expected. I looked like it was raining again here in Columbia after a pretty decent lunchtime walk.

Turning into more than a stat padder here. Have had a few decent showers move thru with periodic dense sprinkles. The green May continues.

Not sure how Frederick will do, but it’s humid out…that’s for sure.
