You can really see the easterly flowing kicking in now. Low level clouds streaming west on the eastern horizon and my temperature crashed into the upper 50s right at sunset.

One of the courts I shoot hoops at is a full court with the practice hoop (i.e., has a net) facing directly east.  Definitely had to fight a breeze.

Fun week to get out and about, but I'm good with a couple of cooler days before T&L chances increase next week.

Enjoy the sun this morning -- looks like a cloudy stretch of days ahead.

Yep, that's why I've been so hyped on this week.  This is a gift.  Our base state has generally been cloudy, though looks like we might get back into the warm side once the front lifts north again early next week.  Hopefully, that leads to partly sunny and better storm chances.

  3. With temperatures now expected to get into the upper 80s tomorrow, that will make 5 straight days with 80+ high temperatures, with no major index pattern present (+nao, +epo, etc..) - pretty impressive. I think we are headed for a hotter Summer.

I hope it’s humid…I want some storms versus that persistent nw flow we had last year. We’re due for a swampy summer.

  4. We have all the makings of a total dud season. We're almost in May and we have yet to get a big event. We got lucky with that on EML-ish setup the other week, but otherwise it's been a lousy year. To be clear, I'm not advocating for damage and never do, we're just in a persistent thunderstorm doldrum.

I’ve actually been surprised by the several boomers we’ve had here in Frederick, especially in the cooler weather we’ve had. There hasn’t been much areawide action I guess, but I feel like we don’t usually start cookin until May…with June/July being the prime window.

Digging holes to plant my weed plants outside was a little uncomfortable this afternoon. High of 90.

It was spicy out there for this time of year, but pretty tolerable.  We're capable of higher dews here...looks like tomorrow might be more humid, though with that might bring a chance of storms (tbd).

  6. yep - sure it's nice they get more snow and stuff, but the springs up there are god-awful.

I have no interest in that. Do I need it to be 90? No…I’m pro-“I don’t like climate change”. But I would take this over the 50s pretty much any day…primarily because that is a stratus cloud producing temp range around here. I’ve noticed we do much better with sun when the temps are 70+.
  7. Os need a closer who isn't 35 and trying to hang on to something that's gone. Brutal loss to lose 2 out of 3 to the lowly As.

If the As could actually afford to keep their talent, they’d be one of the greatest franchises of all time lol. Hopefully, the move…wherever that ends up being…helps with that part of the equation.
  8. I confess…sitting out in the outfield sun was spicier than I expected. The prices at Camden yards have gotten spicy, too. I feel like they’ve gone up since I was there last time…which has been a couple years. Pretty good turnout, though.

  9. I'm so over cloudy cool mornings. I'm ready for the warm-up that's on the way.

Cloudy/cool mornings are acceptable…but cloudy/cool afternoons? Nah, I’m good on that.

I guess the next question will be if we can score some storms this week.

  10. Oh it's coming!  Starting to see a hint of blue through the fog.  Once the sun pops put the temps are gonna soar!  Get those grills ready

I’m hyped. Breaks in the clouds already occurring here with leftover patches of fog over the Catoctins.

Reading this forum as they look for their first 90 degree day seems a bit quaint (no offense intended) as I’m here literally melting in 100 degree heat in Vietnam. It’s been hitting 100+ for more than a month now, through the entire duration of our 3-week trip here, and looks to last through late May. Southeast Asia has been baking, making me root for a strong nina so they could at least get some relief. They need it.

We can use the word quaint when rooting for cold/snow while some people struggle to find shelter or drive to work, hurricanes/tornadoes that destroy homes, and wind storms that down trees and damage crops.  I get the whole dynamic surrounding CC, but it doesn't change the fact that I prefer warmer weather (80s and sun fits my hobbies).  Ideally, we would have 4 equally balanced seasons, but last year showed how challenging that can be with the mild winter and cooler/drier summer combo.  This year feels more normal so far in the MA with at least some snow yielding a mixed back of cool/cloudy and warm/stormy so far this spring.
