Got a disappointing 0.13" today. Unless something pops up unexpectedly before midnight, I will end up with 3.43" for the month: 0.57" less than I got on the single day of June 16th. It was a month of fringing and crumbs, with my biggest catch only 0.75" on July 27th.
ETA: Ended up with an extra 0.02" before midnight, for monthly total of 3.45".

RAH has really backed off rain chances for triangle north today. 80% to 40%. Really need a good soaking 2 weeks without rain with daily temps around 100 has turned it extremely dry in a hurry. Went from not watering the first 3 weeks of the month to barely able to keep the zoysia happy with daily watering
The solution is to just have a yard made of weeds like me: only 3.30" MTD and still looking good!

Got 0.75" of much needed rain last night. The skies opened up in the middle of my evening jog. I came home looking like a drowned rat.

Picked up 1.61” for a daily total of 1.82”which brings the monthly total to 8.55”
You can't loose this month. I got 0.62" of crumbs, with monthly total of 2.53".

Got a happy 0.34" yesterday: 1.91" for the month. Not bad, but a desert compared to NorthHillsWx's backyard

Is there some circulation offshore? All the cells seem to be moving in a circular motion.

We were in that boat last month when everyone else was being flooded. Thankfully the tables turned here and we’re at 5.23” for july with half a month to go
I was thinking of how you and I have seemingly switched places for July vs June. It hasn't been super dry.. yet: sitting at 1.57" for the month and we're still living off the good vibes of our 10.00" June.

RAH has really cut my POPs for the upcoming week. Just yesterday it was 40 - 60% most of the week; now it's mostly ~30%. I missed out on the good stuff last week so I'm feeling a little bit of disquiet as we go into the dog days of summer.

Some beautiful cells blossoming between Raleigh and here. Unfortunately they do not appear to be moving much at all.

Last night I was fringed to the Northwest, tonight it looks like I'm going to get fringed to the Southeast.

Yesterday was one of the more impressive non-tropical summertime rainfalls we’ve had in a long time from a coverage perspective. Pretty much every location from the triad through the Triangle picked up at least 1.5” of rain and many areas had 2-3” obviously with some totals much higher than that
The exception was S and E of the I-95 corridor; the storms just couldn't make much progress past there. I got brushed with 0.17". Hoping for more today (although hoping the places which have been inundated stay dry)

We’ve picked up more rain in the last hour and a half than we received through the entire month of June
A big red blob parked over Raleigh, I think Crabtree will be flooded tonight.

We must stay weather-aware throughout the Mid-Atlantic today, especially North Carolina and Virginia. We are ripe for dangerous flooding.
Indeed. In the RAH AFD I saw mention of slow-moving downpours; could be very problematic if it happens over the areas that just got deluged.

That sharp westward jog has lead to us only netting a pedestrian 0.60" here in Wilson.

Visiting family in Hope Mills, not really that bad yesterday. Skies were only partly cloudy in the afternoon, but they blocked a lot of the direct sunlight and humidity was not bad at all. A far cry from last year

0.48" in north Wilson

Despite 80-90% rain chances last night we’re sitting at 0.00” storm total here for the front
Looks like you should have gotten some goods in the last hour or so?

It’s been a wet month for the state my house has been about the only rain hole there has been. Honestly we haven’t had a heavy rain this month. Thankfully first couple weeks provided consistent rains
We all know the feeling. I think it's more frustrating to miss out when others are cashing in, then it is when everybody is dry. The same dynamic works with snow; 2" feels wonderful when everybody is getting it (or less), but it's maddening with other nearby are getting 4" or 6". Your luck will turn and the lucky ones this month might be back in the dust bowl.

Got a token 0.02 today but it does put me at exactly 10.00" for the month, with almost all of it coming since the 16th.
-
Another 0.92" last night, now at 1.57" for the week and 9.98" for the month.

Also this mornings sounding smashed the all time record for ML cape for the 12z soundings data set at GSO: 3,632 vs the old record of 3,588 set in 1983. In fact only four soundings have ever exceeded 3,000
Cells already starting to pop up between Raleigh and Rocky Mount. Anything that breaks through the CINH will have plenty of fuel today.

Topped out at 98.6 which was probably only limited by cloud cover. Still managed a heat index of 114 which was the second highest I’ve ever recorded here, slightly behind last year
I topped out at exactly 97.9 today held down by the cloud cover. Got to 98.6. My PWS registered a DP of 84.9 ° at 3:00 PM today, with a HI of 127.6. That seems suspect but perhaps not completely out of the realm of possibility given that our soil is still quite moist from the 8+ inches of rain we got last week.
Edit: Looking at the NWS site, it appears RWI was "only" measuring a DP of 73 ° at 2:53 PM so my 84.9 readings seems unrealistic. Still, it's dang humid.

Thought I was just going to be "crumbed" again with 0.05" before midnight, but overnight something came out of nowhere and gave us a healthy 0.98". Much appreciated.
