  1. I'm surprised arctic sea ice is so low when you consider how cold it has been in the Arctic. Forecast for Resolute is below. http://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/nu-27_metric_e.html
  2. I wish we could get a summer with sunshine and temperatures in the mid 70s on a regular basis. Problem is that when it's a cool summer, it's usually rainy as well.
  3. I definitely remember the May 23,1992 cold front. It was the day before my 12th birthday, for which I received a new baseball glove. It was so cold on the 25th (Monday back at school) that it was difficult to use the glove to play catch in the school yard as it would soften up due to the cold.
  4. This. I believe Pinatubo resulted in a number of weather anomolies in the early 90s. Some believe that the snowy winters of 1992-93 and 1993-94 were also partly a result of the volcano, although the effects of volcanoes, I gather, are generally felt most in the summer months. There's an interesting book called "Volcano weather" that was published in 1983 which describes 1816, the true year of no summer. Interestingly, that book was written asa result of a volcano that had occurred in Mexico in the spring of 1982, with the author opining that the chilly summer of 1982 was partly a result of this.
