  1. Just an incredible storm. Huge drifts out there. Snow covering the wheels of the cars. Snow up to my knees. Just wow. On the downside, it took me 3 hours, 20 minutes to commute home. Scarborough RT was down, first bus I was on had its brake lines freeze, so we had to get on a new one. Then three trucks got stuck trying to climb up a hill.
  2. If the RGEM is right, things are looking good for us. We must have got close to 4" in my neighbourhood this morning.
  3. It looks like Toronto might get 1-2" overnight tonight.
  4. Doug Gillham of the The Weather Network tweeted 3 hours ago that he expects 4-8"
  5. Roger, what are you thinking for Toronto? 4-6"?
  6. Does anyone here think this has any similarities to what happened on February 7-8, 2013? I seem to recall that was a clipper, and it gave Toronto over a foot of snow...a real rarity for this city.
  7. Really puts into perspective how some people might simply not remember events that are mentioned here. For example, when I say that this upcoming cold snap reminds me of the winter of 1994, many on this board were toddlers...or not even born when that happened.
  8. Wow, I was 26 years old. I joined Eastern US WX later that year. Have been part of this community since 2007.
  9. Perhaps January 1857 style cold, as per David Ludlum's Early American Winters, volume 2?
  10. Its currently minus 17 Celsius, or 1 above Fahrenheit, in north Toronto, so I can confirm that some serious cold is moving in. Also, Ottawa is experiencing its coldest heavy snowstorm since 1895. Snow and 6 below there currently.
  11. I'm pretty sure that's 21 cm. I think Hamilton could easily see 30 cm (1 foot) out of this.
  12. Pretty much what I was going to say. I think heavier snow is expected between 10 PM and 2 AM. Is it ever looking cold tomorrow night. Lows down to about 10 below Fahrenheit without the windchill factored in.
  13. It's stopped for now, but I believe more is expected around 9 PM. Yeah, Toronto often gets screwed. A lot of it has to do with topography and geographic location. We are too far east to be impacted by lake effect off of Huron, too far west to be heavily impacted by coastal storms and are on the north shore of the lake.
  14. Hope everyone in western and central New York is doing well out of this. It appears to be over performing in Toronto.
  15. Definitely heavier snow in Toronto than I was expecting, or dared to hope for. Thinking 4" might be doable.
  16. This is good to hear. When do you expect the heaviest snow rates? I'd be happy with 2" at the rate this storm has been trending, but 4" would be great.
  17. Imagine if it snowed in Miami? I believe that happened in January 1977?
  18. Looking like I might be lucky if I see 2" in Toronto. Huge disappointment. It looks like this will be a New York State and New Brunswick special.
  19. Looking a bit better for Toronto. Perhaps we might get 4-6"?
  20. I'm hoping for at least 2". I hope your optimism pans out.
  21. Man, if that verified it would be like January 1999 all over again in Toronto.
  22. It really is frustrating. Hoping the models shift back north a bit. 6" would be nice.
  23. I hoping for at least 2" in Toronto. Would be nice if some of the heavier returns moved back north into my area, however.
