  1. Um that didn't happen with me. But my grandfather did that. and his generation. He always told the stories about it.
  2. I hope I'm not the oldest. Is there perks for being a senior weather enthusiast?? Asking for a friend.
  3. .CLIMATE... -- Changed Discussion -- Monthly rainfall totals are below to well normal across central PA particularly over the middle and lower Susquehanna Valley. Current monthly total rainfall through 5/22 at Harrisburg (0.19"/-2.53") and Williamsport (0.44"/-2.31") would rank as the driest May on record. Mounting rainfall deficits and potential drought concerns will need to be monitored heading into June and Summer 2023.
  4. I'll be 65 in July. My mind says I'm young, my knees say the hell you are. If it basically wasn't the problem with my knees I'd be good.
  5. Probably in the mid 90's we went camping up to Sullivan County at Almost Heaven Campground for Memorial Day weekend in a pop-up. We left here from home the temp was a hot 92. Well on the way up we listened to the weather and a cold front was going to come through later on Saturday. Well we weren't prepared for that so we scrambled and went to yard sales to find winter clothes. The temp when we woke up on Sunday morning dropped to 26 and the water hose to the pop up was froze. and the temp only got into the low 60's the rest of the weekend up there. A not an enjoyable weekend to say the least up there.
  6. Just seems as of now that it could be a year without a true summer. I'm so done with this cool weather.
  7. I think JB is saying it will be a below normal temp wise next weekend at least not sure on precip.
  8. I think you'll get to much grout from them when they respond to an out of hours service call.
  9. So you are saying we'll have to wait for input from DT as to how next weekend will turn out?
  10. Rate 0.00 in/hr Daily 0.00 in Weekly 0.00 in Event 0.09 in Monthly 0.55 in Yearly 12.58 in It's been a dry month at last got some much needed rainfall yesterday.
  11. I had a thunderstorm every month so far this year.. except this month.
  12. Looks like slim pickings in the rain dept tomorrow.
  13. I have .46 for the month. Just mowed and the dust was flying from the bare spots. We definitely need a good soaking rain.
  14. Looks like the stuff in the garden survived, but I don't think they can take another night of what we just experienced.
  15. Got down to 29.7 here this morning. there is frost also at places in the grass cars coated in frost. Now i'll see what damage was caused by this on the annual flowers, blueberries, strawberries, tomato plants, etc in the next few hours. according to my ambient it dropped below 32 at 3:45am.
  16. I don't really think their really worried about frost...its the freezing temps. Highly favorable radiational cooling conditions combined with very low pwat airmass signals increasing confidence of a potentially damaging freeze across the northern half of CPA. We expanded freeze watch to the I-80 corridor and blended minT toward tabular MOS numbers which will challenge some daily low temps records. MAV is 21F at KBFD and would not surprised if the usually colder spots across the northern tier drop into the upper teens! Needless to say it will be about as cold as it can be for mid May tonight into early Thursday morning! The other nuance in the forecast tonight is that despite the unseasonably cold temps, the incoming airmass may actually be too dry to get widespread frost formation. Our in-house probability of frost/forecast builder procedure is quite bearish on frost so we cut back/capped coverage from widespread to areas. Locations across the southern half of the area where a freeze watch is not in effect, could easily see at lest some patchy frost with near-freezing temps capable of damaging sensitive vegetation.
