  1. 44 this morning. Question about the hail on Saturday. I seen pics of hail from Harrisburg, and it looked clear. But I seen some from Juniata County and it was white. What causes the difference?
  2. I had that happen here about 27 years ago. there was still hail laying on the ground 2 hrs after the storm was over. I spent a week raking leaves up after work to clean up. And the smell of the leaves after the storm. There was a guy and his girl friend fishing at my place when ths storm started they left he said the road was bad driving with the accumulation of hail on the road and his fishing rod he put hanging out over the tailgate the tip of the rod broke off from the hail.
  3. Great video of the shredded leaves from the hail near Lykens https://www.facebook.com/titus.bergey/videos/1980108219039580
  4. Reports out of upper Dauphin County. Gratz area Lykens of a bad storm. Branches down an tree leave shredding hail 1/4in.
  5. Yes i couldn't figure out why they issued a warning so far out. Thats not like them. This one was coming towards me and did the famous Tamaqua split but we are getting some rain.
  6. Another warned storm heading my way. Let's see if it makes it here. Last one went another direction after they issued a warning for me.
  7. Wow they dropped the warning. No rain from 2nd one.
  8. .11 so far from a t storm. Now under a severe thunderstorm warning till 415. Awaiting its arrival.
  9. A few claps of thunder last eve...no rain and it got windy.
  10. The farmer that rents out our land just planted his field corn yesterday. he's running about 15 days behind schedule. Hope we get rain very soon
  11. Remember those Frost and freeze warnings a few weeks ago? Well here is the result of those. This place is in Dauphin County a few miles from Gratz and about 10 miles as the crow flies from me. Shame. On the bright side and we were blessed this year we picked about 30 quarts of strawberries so far. We sold about 25qt. We had nothing that big to cover our strawberries when those warnings went out and we did have frost and temps down into the upper 20's. We were lucky here. And that 3in. rain came at the right time at the end of April follow by a lot of sun in May to lead to such an abundant harvest ,thank God! Blyler Fruit Farm dertoSnpos0uf700yamg3g hmPM1a198f858m176l1t3a68a0 0 0iM7t 0: · It is with great sadness that we announce there will be no strawberries for 2023. The frost and freeze conditions on numerous mornings in May have ruined the blossoms and small fruit.
  12. I spent about 11 hours Total on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning irrigating to get moisture back in the soil. I have 2 6ft towers with 3 sprinklers running off a 5hp pump. Drawing water from the creek. Today I took the rototiller through. Last week the ground was that hard like cement, the rototiller wanted to skip over the top of the compacted soil. Now with moisture back in the soil that was a game changer. I also used 3.5 gal of gas to irrigate. We need rain bad.
  13. Come on your ac needs a workout. It will seize up, and rust away if it isn't used.
  14. We need the rain, just like we need a Celtics win.
  15. And being early this year the (lack of rain) should have us all concerned.
  16. Yes its a pain to set up. Then you gotta move sprinklers around. Get muddy, dirty, wet and sometimes soaked doin this.
  17. I'm gonna have to set up the pump to pump water out of the creek to irrigate my garden.
  18. We can only hope. Beginning to think that this might be a summer that won't happen. WE need heat and high dewpoints to maybe trigger thunderstorms to get some rain.
  19. 37 was the low. No wonder it seems like my tomato plants aren't growing. Too cold at night.
  20. Gonna mow this morning, Really gonna question mowing next week. I see the brown grass making a return where it usually does when it turns dry. But when it turns brown its usually July August...not May. 42 this morning.
  21. Wow no rain according to NWS for the foreseeable future. This could get bad for the agriculture interests.
