    ...FROST ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 8 AM EDT SUNDAY...

    * WHAT...Temperatures falling to between 33 and 35 degrees late
      tonight and early Sunday morning will result in frost
      formation.

    * WHERE...Portions of central Pennsylvania.

    * WHEN...From 2 AM to 8 AM EDT Sunday.

    * IMPACTS...Near-ground freezing temperatures could kill
      uncovered sensitive outdoor vegetation.

    * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The frost will occur mainly in valley
      locations. A light breeze from the northwest on the ridges and
      their westward-facing slopes will limit a heavy frost in those
      locations. Unprotected early season plantings may freeze.

    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

    Take steps now to protect tender plants and vegetation from the
    cold. Potted plants should be brought inside.

    I would be lying if I said I didn't think of this scenario a few times. I some ways, I'm somewhat hoping she has a miraculous change of heart and wants to move here. It pains me a bit to have to sell my parents' home that they lived in and loved these past 25 years. It really is a nice house, and one filled with quite a few memories for me of them enjoying the lifestyle of the southwest desert.

    But, at some point most of us end up faced with this dilemma.

    And that dilemma is heartbreaking and sad at times.

  3. What a night! Power went off about 7:30ish. Then PPL said it wouldn't be restored till 11pm Monday. Well power came back on at 11:45pm. I tried going to bed but I fell asleep for maybe 30 min until I was awakened by my flashing alarm clock. So I figured I might as well get up and start the furnace as it will go out after being off for such a long time. Then I washed up and went to bed. I wasn;t in bed long till I heard my wife phone alarm going off telling her to get up for work. Well she got up and started off to work and she came back home woke me up telling me theres a tree across the road (and it was a big tree) a half mile from our place. Well the township only works part time so we called the state Police to report it they gave us the Dauphin County non emergency number to report it. Well the fire company must have come over and sawed it up She finally left for work at 5:15 2 hours late because of the wind blown tree that was down. So here I am up now for 24 hrs without no sleep. Hard to sleep when your biological clock is saying time to get up.

  4. Much better wording this morning...makes more sense than last night.

    Tonight
    Showers and thunderstorms likely before midnight, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 1am. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. West wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Doesn't make sense how do you get half to three guarters of an inch precip with only 40% chance?

    I guess it's time to tell you guys.

    This past Tuesday, I lost my mom. She passed peacefully late afternoon. She couldn't overcome the digestive system infection (c diff) that she contracted while in rehab for a broken hip.

    I sat with her, holding her hand as she slipped away to the other side, reiterating that I loved her, but that I was ok, and that I wanted her to be pain free, to see again, and be with my dad and brother again.

    We had some differences of opinion while I was here, but I hope my being here in Arizona was a comforting factor over the past year and a half that I spent with her.

    Sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your family during this difficult time. What you did for your mother the last year and a half is really mostly unheard of  in todays busy society. There are alot that wouldn't have done what you done. I commend you on being there for her, taking care of her and watching out for her. And I know it wasn't easy on you and your family.

    You're not kidding. That's one thing that stood out to me on my drive to work this morning - even though the rainfall amounts overnight weren't earth-shattering, there is water lying everywhere. There's no room for it to go right now.

    Yes that ground is still saturated from the rain this year so far I have 15.88 for the year. And this month 4.72 for the month so far.

    Time for some number updates:

    Rainfall since midnight: .31"

    Rainfall for this event: .87"

    Rainfall for April: 5.16"

    Rainfall 2024: 14.93"

    I was hoping it wouldn't rain for another week so I could plow my garden which is located in the bottom lands next to the creek. It will take awhile to dry out again.
