    The way things have progressed so far this season my bet is on a shorter warm period. We just haven't seen the torches this season like has been advertised in the long to medium range. Now yes we will definitely warm up and after the very cold week we are having I'm not surprised at all by this upcoming week or two of warmth. Now I could be wrong but I'm just thinking about this seasons pattern recognition.

    You just know this is a cold air mass whenever you see the arctic haze in the morning and there isn't a cloud in the sky. But this isn't even the coldest we will get this week. Wait until this weekend.

    We are at 5 degrees currently. Have been at 5 for a couple of hours. That's cold enough for me.

    That's a great question. Maybe @Tyler Penlandcan help with that. I'm not site about what's the best spot up through there except maybe Roan mountain.

    Well the mountains of WNC did jackpot this storm. You just cannot bet against our mountain range. I think the HRRR was the best short range model. We had the moisture but thermals were not we're we needed them to be. This was definitely an elevation dependent storm.
