  1. Some final pics from our abortive trip to Yosemite NP.  Weather never cleared, would haven’t seen much even if we did make it to the actual park.  Tried thanksgiving day, sun was out for about 15 minutes, but snow picked up shortly thereafter.  Went about a mile towards the park and encountered several spun out cars which we couldn’t get past.  Went back to our cabin to watch more snow.  All told I estimate about 4 feet fell from Tuesday pm until when we left Friday AM.  No wind, so no crazy drifts.  Awesome time!  Long way to go to chase snow, LOl.

  2. Visiting Yosemite NP with the family for Thanksgiving week...check out the forecast!  We are staying in a town called Fish Camp, CA.  Going to be epic, can’t wait, 30-40 inches and possible Thunder snow!

....anyone have advice on tire chain types, and tips for installing?

  3. I graded this winter a C,

If this winter was a student, it started strong with an A + in November, turned in an F in December, January was a B, February a C-, March (so far a C-).  Just didn’t live up to its perceived potential.  Hit climo,  2 warning events.  Guess it could have been worse, so a Solid C.

If it weren’t about 2,000 miles away I’d absolutely be in Denver right now for a chase.

That right there is the SH!T.  Look at those pressures, it’s like black hole low, like a category 73 Hurricane, LOL....thought they adjusted for elevation, guess not....and I went to meteorology school in Greeley, CO, they must have covered that after I dropped out and went south.

What, not giving winter a C+ like Ralphie??  And neighbors still had Christmas lights up into March?  OK, I once saw a couple of guys carrying out a browned, old Christmas tree some years ago in *April*.  They must have seen my expression of disbelief, they actually seemed embarrassed and said "I know...sorry!"

Like Ralphie, I want an A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++....winter...like 2009-2010, but first we need a real - - - - - - - NAO.  I did see a Christmas tree on the curb this last Monday a block down, the shame, and I felt bad taking mine down on Jan 4.

  6. Winter is officially over, the last parking lot snow pile melted at work today, the neighbors finally took down their Christmas lights on Sunday, and the daffodils are in full bloom.  Game, set, match.  I give this winter a C.

Yes...a friend of mine has lived there for 20 years. Said the most they ever got at one time was 5 inches. Ironically they had more snow I had more snow than I had in Woodbridge the two years prior to this one. Not a flake all this year there.

They had a good one in 2003, was actually there the day after looking for wedding venues, most of it was melted, but still pretty cool.  Winter of 2002-2003 will always have a place in my heart.

I hope spring is cold w/40s.and rain until May.  Hate spring and summer.  Hate flowers and weeds.  I’m probably in the minority.

I actually don’t care what the temp is, I am just sick of the rain.  My house, fence, driveway, trees, sidewalk, roof whatever are covered in green gunk, moss, algae, mold whatever.  I would be happy with a late cold spell that kills off the bugs just as they are coming out...then give me the southeast ridge centered over SC from April to May that shunts everything north as we bake and dries everything out.
