  1. Pretty raw out there with the northeast winds, very heavy overcast, and cold rain. Temp is 54 with lots of slow rumbles overhead. Up to 1.70"
  2. Storms lining up to train over us for the next hour or so. Have picked up 1.46" since 11pm, and rising quickly. Already over 4" for Sep.
  3. ^ NIce pics Hawkeye, thanks for sharing!
  4. And we're off. Widespread elevated convection quickly taking off across the IA/MO border region. Kind of interesting vis sat loop this afternoon/eve watching the clouds quickly develop and become widespread, and then convection popping up as the sun angle got low. Looks like the potential for another good soaking tonight.
  5. New guy came in at 20z and was like nah, and hacked 100 miles of the north section off out your way.
  6. Despite being only 66 at 11am MLI made a good run at 90 today, but fell short at good ol' 89. Hit 85 here, but not till just after 6pm. Was still 68 at noon before the warm front blasted through.
  7. Definitely will see a nice recovery later today, but as many have mentioned the cap remains the biggest issue. A lot of the guidance is popping off convection by early eve, so I'm leaning towards there being at least scattered activity like Hoosier mentioned. The substantial plume of steep mid-level lapse rates is very nice to see.
  8. And in the past 15 minutes the pressure has quickly rebound 2mb back to 1013, with winds barely rustling. Pretty cool.
  9. Barometer has fallen from 1018 to 1011 in the last hour. Getting 40mph gusts on the back end of these rain showers.
  10. Nice soaker overnight/early this morning with lots of lightning and thunder, and the sound of rain thrashing the side of the house. Picked up 2.64". You don't see a point forecast like this very often lol. Winter storm watch out with a 98 forecast high temp in the meantime.
  11. Something tells me our 0.83" since July 31st will be a distant memory in the near future. Some pretty beefy amounts forecast by many of the models.
  12. CR the happening place to be for sure. Hope it can continue this winter and deliver a good footer there (and surrounding areas too of course lol).
  13. Temp made it down to 43 this morning here.
  14. 12z Euro had Denver at 95 degrees at 21z Mon, and snowing at 37 degrees by 12z Tue, just 15hrs later. Incredible. On top of that 6-12" of snow falls (kuchera method). That would def be something to experience. EDIT: Warm ground/sun angle issues?
  15. That pic reminds me of the movie The Burbs with Tom Hanks. Next door neighbor had basically no grass, and had that extreme contrast going from Hank's yard to that one.
  16. Looks refreshing. 00z Euro has the QC at 91 at 21z Monday, and at 58 at 21z Tue. They've already harvested some of the corn fields around here. Earliest I can remember.
  17. The GFS has much of Iowa in the middle 40s in the early afternoon a week from today. That would be pretty insane.
  18. MLI snuck in another 90 today. Hit 87 here.
  19. 00z Euro has wet snow mixing in near Sioux Falls SD early Tue morning, with a pretty significant snowstorm for much of Colorado and far western NE. Insert Ned Stark meme here.
  20. On the plus side the dandelions appear to be thriving.
  21. They at least could have hoisted a windshield wiper advisory.
  22. Off to a fast start for September, picked up 0.02" of rain this afternoon.
  23. Welcome to autumn! Met fall means more to me than astro fall, so AFAIA concerned summer is ova!
