  1. Looks like MSP should do well with this, perhaps 6"+.
  2. Gonna be interesting seeing the snowsqualls tomorrow moving northeastward. Kind of unusual around these parts. Looks like much of the DVN area could get caught in a mini-screw zone tomorrow with everything spinning around the area.
  3. Will be nice to see flakes flying again. Looks like on and off again light snow all day Fri with hopefully an inch or two. Better than nothing.
  4. Made it up to 35 today with full sun. The glacier laughed at it. Some icicles fell off the gutters on the house though.
  5. Looks like a long-duration light snow event from Thu night through Fri night for the western half of the sub, with 1-2" snow possible. A nice refresher for areas that already have snow on the ground. Normally not a big deal but with such long periods of benign weather this season it will stand out as a top 5 event for many of us.
  6. Made it above freezing (33) for the first time this month/year this afternoon, albeit briefly. Was nice to see the sun again. Looks like some light snow possible Friday.
  7. Just need to get the planes in a holding pattern over Chicago like in Diehard 2, and perhaps a top 3 event could result from it.
  8. We haven't had any real cold yet so you know it's coming for March and April lol.
  9. Definitely one of the longest cloudy stretches I can remember. We lost the fog/rime ice stuff the past few days, but the heavy overcast has remained.
  10. Still a good 6" of glacier here. Hasn't budged in over a week. Top 2" is almost entirely solid ice.
  11. Both the op Euro and parallel GFS show a system for the 17-18th period. Encouraging to see them in agreement in something around that time period. A glimmer of hope on the horizon?
  12. The 12z Euro had a nice clipper for northern WI/UP of MI late next week, and some snow showers and flurries for areas south of that.
  13. Another dense fog advisory tonight. The trees have been caked with rime/hoar frost for several days now. Lost some of it yesterday, but last night it came back in force with the dense fog. It didn't fall off at all today, and with more fog coming tonight it should only act to build it up even more. Pretty crazy stretch we got here.
  14. Lowest temp of the season so far here is only 5 above. No subzero temps in sight through mid month. Def saving money on the ol' heating bill this winter.
  15. I got an eye Dr. appt for 2/17, so this works out well.
  16. Yeah it's a big change from a few days back when every little model run was scrutinized for any little possible change. Now it's kind of like now what? Just give us something to track, anything lol. These long stretches with nothing are mind numbing this time of year. Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but I don't remember there being so many long periods of absolutely nothing to track for weeks at a time back in the "old days". Prob should have put this in the complaint thread lol.
  17. I can't remember hoar frost maintaining this long around here. Some of it blew off, but I'd say 75% or so remains. Was up by Clinton earlier and it was even better than here. Looked like 1.5"+ growth up there vs around 1" here. Should have dug my camera out today and took pics.
  18. Looks like I woke up on Mt Washington this morning. Hoar frost of up to an inch grew on everything, even icicles.
  19. The admins need to add a "jealous" icon to choose from along with the weenie, like, etc lol.
  20. Looks like a snooze fest again through mid month. Looks like Jan may be like many of the past months where there's jack squat for weeks, but then a major event comes in at some point and gives a brief period of excitement. Clippers can be pretty boring, but I'd take a train of them just so we don't have to go through these long stretches of benign weather in the heart of the winter tracking season.
  21. There's a high likelihood of 6"+ snow in 12hrs or less in a portion of the ILX cwa. No advisories or anything other than dense fog advisory at present. EDIT: ILX did take the time to peck out a special weather statement though (after 3"+ has already fallen lol)
  22. Radar estimates over 0.3" of precip fell in the past hour around the Cisco area to the west of Monticello/Champaign. Likely 2-3" per hour rates there the past hour, and it continues.
  23. Chambana getting in on a little action this eve. CMI was down to 1/2 mile in moderate snow a short while ago. Should snow well there for another hour or two.
  24. Did a time lapse of the front tree changing colors through fall. Wanted the last shot to have snow on the ground, so I had to wait till this past event to get that last shot.
