No one is at zero risk of course, but there are people that are at higher risk and people that are at low risk. The statistics overwhelmingly show that the majority of people that get sick enough to be hospitalized have overweight/obesity/underlying health conditions. If you're completely healthy the risk is very low. Not zero, but very low.

Agreed, each individual should do their own risk assessment.   High risk or concerned, get the vax.   Low risk,  don't get it if you don't want.

Again. If the person you’ve interacted with has gotten the vaccine or willingly passed it up why’s it matter.

Pretty sure the answer to this is because a vaccinated person can still get covid.   Their vaccine doesn't work unless you have one too..like the masks..

Some good news and some, well, slightly less good news

Pfizer-BioNTech says Covid vaccine is 100% effective in kids ages 12 to 15

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/31/covid-vaccine-pfizer-says-shot-is-100percent-effective-in-kids-ages-12-to-15.html

Over 100 fully vaccinated people contract COVID-19 in Washington state, officials say

Most cases were patients who experienced only mild symptoms, if any, according to a press release from the Washington State Department of Health.

However, at least eight people with breakthrough cases have been hospitalized. The Washington State Department of Health is also investigating two potential breakthrough cases where the individuals died. Both patients were over 80 years old and suffered from underlying health issues.

Do they ever release any more details on the trial groups?   Did they pick the most healthy kids or was asthma, obesity, mixed ethnicity etc mixed in too (most vulnerable)?   The 100% would mean more if we know more about the group.

Its poisonous. The only way for people to find middle ground on issues like this is to be able to talk openly about the way they feel about something. I engage with @Stebo and some of the other guys that share his POV because I legitimately want to know why they feel the way they do... its how dialogue works, how teamwork works, and how finding common ground on an issue works. He is so busy yelling loudly, drowning me out, and calling me an idiot that he doesn't even realize we agree on basically everything except that people shouldn't be forced to put shots in their arms if they are uncomfortable doing so.

Agreed, the way he (and some others) approach this is not how you get anything done.  For example, the reply @mattb65 gave me was a well constructed reply with a few reasons on why you would change your mind on the covid vaccine. This is the message that those on the fence need to see, not a computer tough guy calling people idiots or stupid.  That only inflames tensions.

I realize most don't agree with my views, but it is interesting that forced vaccinations and vaccine passports seem to be a more common (for the most part) agreement.

Neither is letting "opposing viewpoints" of a pandemic sit here to fester, yet you let that shit slide. So yes it is completely necessary.

Lol.  Seems to be the new trend.   You don't like the view, attack it, and censor it.

You may have already posted this but why specifically are you against the covid vaccine? Would your opinion change once it's fully FDA approved or change under any circumstances?

There are others that need the vaccine way more than I do (high risk, elderly, those living in fear and need it to get on with their lives etc).   To go along with that, yes, I may reconsider at some point.   The other part is just a general distrust for a rushed vaccine that hasn't shown much benefit  yet (outside of those with high risk)

I'm all in favor of everyone getting the vaccine that can, but the vaccine passport that NYS is talking about is a joke.

Agreed.  It doesn't matter what side of the fence you're on with regards to the vaccine, these passports are a dangerous precedent.

I was just there this past weekend and in my 400 miles of travel around Dallas, I would say that number falls around 15-20%.

I will say this...my winter skin was kissed by the Texan sun in as little as 15 minutes. I was wearing some sunscreen. So the minute the virus laden spittle leaves the mouth it is DOA outside. I also have to wonder if vitamin D levels are on the rise now. Pools are open and most people are eating outside. It is the nicest time of year there at the moment.

Here in Michigan our bodies have the lowest level of vitamin D right now coming off of winter.

Disclaimer: I am not pushing Vitamin D as a cure. It is more a measure of a more robust immune system.

There is valid evidence that Vitamin D does help reduce infection risk or the outcome in some.

Goes along with the "staying healthy" theme = much lower risk.

Thats because most likely the damage had already been done. Have to remember that there is a two week lag time. Then you have to account for people like yourself who refuse to take this seriously

Huh?  I'm saying, when mask mandates were in place, everywhere got a big spike this winter.  The mask mandates made no difference.  Are you blaming those massive spikes on holiday family get togethers? Sure wasn't from the Walmart or grocery stores, as masks are required there.

I swear.  Seems like many of you root for the virus, and would cheer for wearing masks into eternity.  Take a look at Texas numbers since they lifted the mandate.   Take a look at Mississippi's numbers since they lifted the mandate.  Doing just fine. But the blue check marks and Hollywood told me it'd be a complete disaster!

Doomers are gonna be doomers though, I guess. But the more they push each new doomsday scenario, with masks, DOUBLE masks, and "variants", people slowly but surely begin to just not listen anymore. Some of us who don't lap up everything Fauci and Blue Checkmarks say like a little puppy dog actually want to get out and live life.

Crazy how the mask mandates made cases increase shortly after.

  11. Good stuff

"95% Of Americans Who Contract Coronavirus Do Not Require Hospitalization, Study Says"

"Studies have shown that US media in particular created a climate of fear by publishing a deluge of negative news in 2020. One Ivy League-led study found that 91 percent of US stories in major media were negative in tone (compared to just 54 percent in non-US media)—even when the virus was in retreat and positive results were being achieved."

Took a 5 mile hike on the outskirts of Ann Arbor (heavily liberal) and people hiking in the middle of the woods were wearing masks. Leaving metro Detroit you hardly see anyone wearing them outside of large chain stores and certainly not outside.

No lives were saved, it's just theater. He's right.

Lol that sounds terrible.  Probably the same people that wear them in their cars.

Again, your use of "China virus" is pure talking points. The Italian Virus sucks all right. Why keep you keep on gaslighting everything is pretty lol.

Are you really this dumb or pretending?   Ok I get the China points, I'm talking about the variants.  Those terms are often used in here by those of web forum seniority.  If you don't like the terms quit using them.  Lead by example.
