  1. Somebody owes me a wet microburst
  2. Just a very quick search but this seems to pick up on the tornado/nuclear weapons testing idea:
  3. If I’m not mistaken it did help put the kibosh on nuclear weapons testing because they were afraid there was a correlation to that causing violent weather. So not hard to imagine your scenario at all
  4. That entire ‘53 tornado season must have made it seem like the world was going to end. Incredible destruction in so many different places that year
  5. Storms to the north, west and east of me. It’d be fascinating in a perverse sort of way to miss all this lol
  6. New storm trying to pop around Uxbridge it looks like
  7. T-storms are in the forecast for overnight so maybe a little fun as we try to sleep? Maybe?
  8. I think the late night August supercell of 2000 which originated in eastern NY and then intensified around Springfield is one of my favorite storm memories as it tracked almost due East through the state.. Tornado warnings and golf ball sized hail from just south of Boston to northern RI. Doesn’t get better than that
  9. I miss the stares from my concerned neighbors wondering why some weirdo is hanging around outside alone in the middle of the night
  10. I could have sworn during the 90’s this was almost an semi annual occurrence at least once a summer for me. Nothing like walking around late at night in my yard to see the northwest horizon light up about five times a minute.
  11. No anxiety that an MCC at 3am won’t alleviate
  12. Just waiting patiently for my wet microburst tomorrow. Always more exciting than the dry ones
  13. I remember the heat wave in France about 15 years ago that killed thousands. None to few places with AC there didn’t help..Good grief
  14. They are all different topics he touches on. He’s not really trying to equate one with the other. Mostly the mysteries involved with each
  15. I’m currently reading “Explaining the Unexplained” by Steven Ellis. Not sure I buy all of it but he has some interesting theories and explanations about religion, UFO’s the paranormal, etc
  16. Five able bodied people should be able to push that warm front north
  17. As someone who might be interested in the Naples area when I retire, what’s the return rate on major hurricanes in that part of Florida?
  18. I’d miss Duval St. Great place to vacation
  19. A good book title for an aspiring weather author might be “A thousand reasons to fail: thunderstorms in SNE”
  20. I remember growing up August was full of severe weather events (not even including the tropical variety) so we are way overdue for an active August.. I liken it almost to how March was so mediocre for snowfall for about a decade and that recently changed a bit
  21. Has me right in the schwerpunkt it looks like
  22. I LOVED those old cartoons. I wish they were available on blu ray
  23. How is his mother doing now? Does anyone know?
  24. Two big tornado anniversaries next month. June 1st 2011 and June 9 1953
  25. Pretty decent squall line from Vermont to N Carolina. Not a chance it holds to the coast but someone inland might have fun later
