Had this exact same thing happen to me years ago in my driveway in the dark. I thought it was a cat coming up the driveway in the dark, and I didn’t give it a thought, and this skunk comes right up and brushed against my leg with some decent force as a cat would do…And just kept on walking. Absolutely surprised/startled the crap out of me. It was something I’ll never forget.
Yikes. Glad it wasn’t rabid

This one will end up in Nova Scotia again. Just you wait and see

I don’t suppose that area way out in the eastern Atlantic could have a future here?
-
Personally I find the short/dark days increasingly depressing as I grow older. Enough to seek therapy (well that and other reasons)..Someone recommended one of those special lamps online that produces artificial sunlight. Might be worth investing in one of those

I can’t get over THREE counties in E MA with a tornado warning currently That’s incredible to me. Tornado alert nearly made me hit the ceiling

Thank God it’s raining again, it’s been at least 15 minutes since it did last

I have a hunch the flooding that could result might be the greatest legacy from this. And with another inch or two (at least) added to what has been a record setting summer rainfall could potentially become a very serious situation. And if some strong wind gusts come on top of that, that’s the proverbial icing on the cake..

As far as the storm goes maybe the right side of it would be “preferable” at least in regard to avoiding more flooding rain potential? Assuming it weakens as it’s likely to do
-
Developing thunderstorm to my southwest headed toward me I think
-
Can we get a good PRE? That’s the major question lol
-
Storm of the fricken summer here. Who’d have thunk
-
Gun shot thunder crackling here in Wrentham
Edit: crazy close lightning strikes and it’s a deluge here

Decent lapse rates, both mid-level and low-level, combined with adequate shear, and mixed-layer CAPE 2500-3000 J/KG...there will be some nasty cells today.
EDIT: whoops, thought I was in the main thread
That’s ok. This is what I call a “happy mistake” lol

Wait..not being sarcastic but I thought this threat was effectively over as of this morning?

Here's what's going to happen ( lol ) ... We'll get this bad boy up to Cat 4.pubes distance of a Cat 5er at some point along the way. It'll get a path feedback from that, that bumps it west in the guidance - suddenly, NHC is caboosing their statements with 'Persons along the EC should be carefully monitoring ...' etc, and officially, the dopamine hornet's nest is poked and the buzz on this and other social media will be elevated to a rage that is comparable to the power of the cyclone itself -
then, it starts ewr cycling, expanding in areal circumvallate - the core will thus be down to a strong Cat 3. It turns the corner down there and starts the climo acceleration routine. Warnings are gong all the way to Mt Washington - but somewhere E of Jersey not 10 minutes before the L.I. transit it drops to Cat 2 heading for EEN, NH... the wind in the interior of SNE seldom exceeds 70 mph because the storm is by nature weakening rapidly and transitioning - lifting.
... There will be posters in here pissed off calling it weak sauce this and we got screwed.
Kind of the same phenom as winter, when you got 16" and everywhere else got 20. Bust
Sounds like Hurricane Gloria again

I miss the Bruce Schwoegler days on CH 4 when he would get excited about something like this. It was must see TV

..if a Cat 3 or 4 hit SNE I'd give it to 2 days after the storm before you'd be complaining about how long it is taking for things to return to normal...
Not to make light of our CT friends but the resulting power outages would probably last until the next hurricane
