Is this looking like most of the past events this summer or does something higher on the Fujita scale threaten?

Zero storms for me.  This has got to be some type of record.  Lots of distant lightning/thunder, mostly all to my immediate south.  Wonder what is the technical definition of a thunderstorm is?  If you see a lightning strike or hear thunder several miles away while you get light rain is that considered a thunderstorm?  If it is then my count is much higher.

I hope so or I haven’t had a real thunderstorm in several years LOL

For the record that was a darn good storm that came through around noonish. Plenty of thunder and lightning and blinding heavy rain. Not severe but I’m satisfied with it

Obviously a bit early but the NWS likes our chances for some severe this coming Friday?

Is there an EML in the region when this happens? 

A large event in mid May that delivered for many. Don’t see that every year. 

The Worcester tornado happened on a Tuesday too

There has been a few. We had a decent event in early 2013 that produced a weak tornado in Stoughton. We also had a good one Mem weekend 2009 that produced 2" hail in Duxbury. I actually saw the stones on the ground and grabbed a pic.

Come to think of it that severe thunderstorm I had two years ago in FEBRUARY is still one of the most amazing things I’ve seen happen. Just hoping a lot of folks get a good show today 

I know from memory that Memorial Day weekend can fire up good severe in western NE but this threat is as seasonally early as anything I can recall?

Who’d have thought a tornado watch would precede the first severe thunderstorm watch in the region?

It's always fun to be a witness to something potentially history making 

Would a phase more or less guarantee that the storm slows down? Would phasing come with any other advantages?
