Maybe just my own false perception but it seems August has been particularly bad for severe the last several years? Growing up in the 70’s/80’s it didn’t seem like that? I vividly remember some spectacular events in those days

Hopefully I can retire in a couple of years because once I do I’ll be moving to the southeast somewhere. I’ll be damned if I’m going to go “hurricane-less” before I pass on

I barely saw Gloria really. Knocked over a couple of trees and a little bit of light rain and that was it for me..Hurricane Bob was a total non entity when I lived in Dedham..Hurricane Belle in ‘76 when I was a wee lad had some heavy rain and gusty winds but I don’t think it was even a hurricane at landfall

If our weather is warmer and more like the mid Atlantic at least we could get severe every once in a while. It’s only fair

MLCAPE of 4500 to 6000 near Fargo ND tomorrow..Yikes..I’d lust for that here. Probably not even feasible in these parts?

40 years since Massachusetts west of the Cape has had a hurricane..Never thought after Gloria (which was largely a disappointment here) it would be 40+ years for the next strike. And I’m not even saying it had to be a Cat 3 at landfall. Ever a weak 2 or strong 1 would have been fine. Is a 40 year drought like that typical around here?
