    Not for me it isn't. I taught it for ten years. I just disagree with BX. Banter should be for anything, but now it can't be for climate change because "one of those people" might start up with their nonsense? I'd say those views belong in banter, not a serious discussion thread. But it ain't my board, and in truth I do try to avoid being baited into a debate, so "whatever." And that's all I have to say on it. On to the boring weather.....

    I do think we are getting due for something better next year, as we have several years now with not much to write home about. Some areas in this subforum had some decent events, not so much mine...but it could just as well suck again next year too.

    Justin isn't one of those people though. He is an actual scientist, whose research is tied into climate change , and hardly anyone goes to the climate thread. I assumed banter was ok for anything. But whatever.

    Well now ya know.....let's be honest, without some snow winter is pretty boring. Cold, wet, chilly, grey ( well my grass is still green and my garden herbs still growing )and muddy. Yuck.

    You could not pay me to live in Utah. I'd give up snow for life first, wouldn't give it a second thought. I gotta have a large body of water nearby, with big fish in it, preferably an ocean but one of the Great Lakes will do ( Salt Lake doesn't have fish ).

    I hate to tell you this but it can go on like this for several winters in a row...it frequently did in the past....even if it gets darn cold.

    Think I'm going to lay low for awhile. There's nothing going on and nothing on the horizon of any significance; the story is the AN temps and lack of snow, and the severe flu season. Flu seems to be enjoying the mild winter....

    I wonder if it will just continue with the chilly dull blah punctuated by drenching rain. At this point a torch would be a change of pace.

    Indeed. But I enjoy a good snowstorm as much as anyone. But this year I'm not missing it. Maybe I've seen too many.

    Gut instincts are mostly worthless and "positive" is relative, in that positive for the vast majority of folks is that this never turns into anything frozen or just doesn't happen. I feel like this is an alternative universe here. My gut tells me this ain't our winter, and this storm won't be any different. But that isn't worth much....

    Great photos too; the section on near misses is most fascinating; one shows an ice storm the likes of which most have been nothing short of epic ( a miss, I guess, because it wasn't snow ) and the images of people trying to scale icebergs in Manhattan after the 93 superstorm, where ten inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain crippled the area....

    Kocin and Ucellini, sort of the Dean Martin/ Jerry Lewis of snowstorms, and authors of the bible, Northeast Snowstorms, which was written before the big decade of the 2010's.

    Well yeah that clears things up doesn't it...there could be a storm. We don't know what it's gonna do. But being winter it might snow. Or not. Stay tuned. Maybe we could sacrifice a goat and read the entrails.....

    I already gave up. Writings been on the wall for awhile. And TBH, I'm really not missing the snow that much. It'll be back again, at some point. Don't think I'll be in the area if it's a multi-year thing ( and that has happened ) cause I'll be retired and living where I can afford it. Might be an area that snows, might not be.
