  1. Looking at the snow maps (which as we know, aren't very accurate) it looks like I'm right on the bubble. Not so good for you guys further down in St. Mary's and especially the lower shore. I know how these north & west type deals work though so I'm not holding out hope for much at all, maybe a little front end thump of snow before a flip to rain. If you can find mitchnick's and snowfan's responses to me in the main thread they showed me how to find the output for NHK (which probably represents you much better than me, but still the best I have to go off of).
  2. Did we get snow overnight down here? When I came out to leave for work it looked like we had another dusting. I don't think it was snow drifts cause it was too uniformly spread out. There's no obs at KNHK saying snow though. Can anyone confirm?
  3. So for BWI... record lowest max broken today (18). Record low should probably be broken tonight. Then tomorrow's record lowest max is in play, as well as the record low for Saturday. LWX needs to update their February records page for BWI though... they usually do it the next day or so but they haven't added the ones from earlier this week.
  4. They kept Calvert and St. Mary's out of the WWA's but I'm hoping we get a surprise band here :-)
  5. Scuddz posted this in the record breaking cold thread. I'm reposting it here, you'll like this! http://www.natice.no...150218color.jpg
  6. I measured 7" which ties St. Patrick's Day from last year. Great storm! Went out for a walk last night in the middle of it- you could hear a pin drop it was so quiet. The snow was really sparkly and made a squeaking sound when you walked on it. Went out this morning with my wife and son to take some pics and play in the snow. We all got cold and came back in though. Going back out later to build him a snowman, hopefully it will warm up just a little bit (but not enough to melt the snow though lol). How did you guys all do?
  7. Radar's looking good for both of us coming up soon. *fingers crossed*
  8. So for BWI: Record lowest max and record low tied yesterday (18 and 6) Record lowest max and record low tied today (18 and 5) Seems likely that we will break a few more later this week. This is quickly turning into a historic February.
  9. I've got about an inch. Still a steady, moderate, powdery snow. 17F What's funny is it took over two hours to just get past the total for the 15 minute snow dump on Saturday night lol
  10. Moderate snow now. This is one of the few storms where it immediately started sticking to everything (including roads).
  11. Welcome aboard, glad to see more people joining the thread. Looking forward to everyone's obs! I'm excited!
  12. Quick run-down of all the forecasts I've seen for southern MD: TWC = 8-12 Accuweather = 6-12 DT (1st call) = 10-12 NWS map (currently) = 6-8 Ellinwood = 8-12 CWG = hasn't put out an official forecast yet, but said we could get 5-10 down here I could wind up with more snow than any storm last year... actually this could be the most snow I've seen in one storm since snowmageddon if some of these forecasts verify.
  13. Glad to see you back on here! Latest LWX map has central/southern Calvert and all of St. Mary's in the bullseye: 8-10! http://www.weather.gov/images/lwx/winter/StormTotalSnowRange.png
  14. For BWI, in addition to tying the record low today, its seems like breaking the record lowest max today and record low tomorrow are given. Also... top 10 coldest February watch for BWI?
  15. Didn't get much sleep at all, the winds were too loud. My wind gauge was saying 50mph gusts, and KNHK had a peak gust of 49mph, so that sounds about right. Went outside to check my roof and fence (all ok, fortunately) but one neighbor has damage to their fence I see. Somehow most of the snow melted (or maybe it just blew away). Its unbearable outside. Between the two bursts of snow yesterday, the cold and winds, and then if we get a MECS here on Tuesday, this would be a pretty epic period of winter.
  16. My temp/dewpoint went from 43/24 to 40/31... I'm holding out hope but I have that feeling somehow were getting shafted again. Depressing reading all these "whiteout!!!!" posts in the main thread while I'm getting virga. Edit: Scratch that, snowing hard now lol
  17. Charles, Calvert and St. Mary's have high wind warnings and wind chill advisories, but I'm surprised winter weather advisories haven't been posted yet, especially since the actual forecasts are calling for 1-1.5 inches later today and tonight. I don't think I've ever had all three advisories at once.
  18. I remember that storm. The models initially showed suppression and a whiff but trended north at the last minute Monday and gave us a region-wide 12-18+ event.
  19. I never knew that the February '96 storms had you guys in the bullseye. Both of those were just moderate events in the BWI area. This is from LWX's historic storms page: February 2-3 and February 16, 1996, storms: The Delmarva received 4 snowstorms in about 5 weeks from January 7 through February 16. The storm on February 2-3, dropped up to two feet of snow over Dorchester County. The entire Lower Eastern Shore was covered by another 1 to 2 feet of snow. On February 16, another storm struck dropping 5 to 8 inches over the Lower Eastern Shore and 8 to 12 inches on the Upper Eastern Shore. These storms combined to produce the snowiest season this century on the Delmarva! The Lower Shore (Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties) saw 28 to 35 inches of snow in those five weeks. Dorchester, Talbot, and Caroline Counties saw 45 to 59 inches of snow.
  20. I like when the "S" word ("suppression", not "snow") is tossed around in the main thread. That usually has the north/west people going while we're Technically we're also getting screwed right now too, but I like where we sit as of now.
  21. I had a burst of heavy wet snow with big flakes. Too warm to accumulate on anything, but I took my son out in it and he liked running around. It looks like its ending now.
  22. I bet we won't even be able to get a pity cartopper like everyone is today lol
