  1. Oldest was feeling better so we all went outside- we managed to build a snowman with only one inch of snow! This was actually a lot easier than the storm last January since that one was all powder. He just rolled a snowball around in the front yard until it got big enough lol
  2. I feel so bad for my oldest (he's five). He was so excited last night. Then he woke up to this sh*t and now he's getting a sore throat too.
  3. I'm glad we have a red tagger from down here now! What happened to @snowdude?
  4. LWX cancelled the WSW for everyone but St Mary’s. My forecast is down to 2-4” now.
  5. Congrats to you guys over on the other side! @SOMDweather did St Mary’s get any accumulation at all at any point?
  6. I’m so excited- I have waited eight long years for a December storm!
  7. Based on this updated LWX map I'd have to assume St. Mary's (and possibly Calvert) will be upgraded to WSW later this evening.
  8. I went too low for SBY in the snowfall contest- Salisbury is clearly a snow town now.
  9. We've gotta be into some kind of long-term December futility record for this decade at the airports, but I haven't checked. I just want some snow in December- I'm not even asking for a 2009, I just want a goddamn climo 2-4" in December at this point!
  10. Last summer was near-normal until late July, which kicked off the blowtorch that basically lasted until May this year (with a brief interruption in March). But I agree- this summer, while above-average temp-wise, hasn't been impressive in the Big Heat dept.
  11. April finished 60.3 at BWI, which was 2nd hottest. The hottest was 1941 at 60.4, so we just missed it by a tenth of a degree! 4th hottest January-April, here's the top four: 1) 1921: 47.3 2) 2012: 47.2 3) 1949: 47.0 4) 2017: 46.9
  12. Something interesting I noticed: starting with 2009, every April at BWI has broken or tied at least one record high or high minimum. This might be a top ten hottest April too. Record high watch for this Saturday. I wonder where the year will rank so far after this month is over (I promise I won't screw it up this time! lol)
  13. Yikes- I rechecked and it appears I made a mistake in the spreadsheet. Yeah, BWI is currently ranked 10th hottest. Thanks for the heads up.
  14. March at BWI finished at 43.9 degrees which is a +0.3 departure. March did finish colder than February, but only by 0.3 degrees (43.9 vs 44.2). March did finish warmer than December and January though. This March, for the time being, destroyed any chance of getting a top ten hottest year- we’re way, way down on the list now.
  15. Yeah I got 0.5", which is just as much as I got in the big Pi Day "storm"... lol
  16. Back end fun? I've never seen LWX split Calvert for a WWA but they just did, with my area being right around the cutoff. I can't imagine 1-2" being able to stick at this point though.
  17. Woke up to heavy rain that washed the sleet away. What a turd. At least its fixed the drought (1.62" total QPF and counting)
  18. 45/18 LWX adjusted down to 1-2" for most of Southern MD which is far more reasonable.
  19. Lol @ 0z Euro- its starting! Also someone needs to explain to LWX that guidance says I'm not getting 2-4"- not even close.
  20. Here you go: March colder than February (7 instances + 1 tie): 1883 (tied), 1887, 1890, 1891, 1909, 1932, 1960, 1984 March colder than January (11 instances): 1876, 1880, 1890, 1906, 1916, 1932, 1933, 1937, 1947, 1950, 1960 March colder than previous December (19 instances): 1885, 1890, 1892, 1896, 1906, 1912, 1914, 1924, 1932, 1940, 1941, 1947, 1950, 1957, 1960, 1972, 2013, 2014, 2015 Surprisingly, 2016 didn’t make the list here- even though December 2015 was the hottest December ever, March 2016 was also 6th hottest March. March colder than all three (3 instances): 1890, 1932, 1960 A few things struck me as interesting- first, it's happened more times in January vs. February, despite February having a higher average temperature. Second, it wasn’t too unusual for March to be colder than January before 1960, then it suddenly stopped happening. Third, our recent December futility/torches are apparent here.
