  1. First probabilistic snow maps out. Only goes through Sunday 7am: https://www.weather.gov/phi/winter
  2. Yikes. And my work is still planning on waiting until the last minute Sunday to decide if we're going to be working outside on Monday. OT, but can anyone please clue me in as to what a "FOLKS" is? I keep seeing it in the MA forum. (I swear every time we all start tracking an event like this they just keep making up new acronyms...)
  3. Not sure what that has to do with any of our weather here but ok Down to 2.3°F! Hella cold.
  4. Spent all afternoon lurking in the MA sub. I now have a severe case of whiplash. Holy heck, that used to be entertaining but I just can't keep up anymore down there. Still gonna go out and get the bread and milk tomorrow though. Oh btw it's 3.0°F outside my house right now. It hit 5 this morning, and one of my dogs was trying to do a kangaroo poop because the snow was too cold for her front paws, poor girl. Might try to put on her booties tomorrow morning but I'm not sure that'll be any more comfortable for her...
  5. My salted areas are now caving. This is awesome. Bonus round! (Didn't think it'd make it this far inland)
  6. Snowing here again, already picked up another 1/4". Previously cleared driveway is caving. Thankfully I salted the sidewalk, so that's holding firm.
  7. Already got an inch here in Reading. A nice surprise to wake up to! 27.1°F
  8. Huge pingers against the windows. I noticed it was leaving small "craters" in the already fallen stuff, so I stuck my arm out the door and discovered the largest sleet I've ever seen. Between 3/16" and 1/4" in diameter.
  9. i nearly spit out my coffee just now. 25.8°F and 10°F DP. Lots of virga happening overhead. Sky looks kinda "pebbly" if that makes any sense.
  10. Anybody seeing any actual flakes tonight, or is it all just virga?
  11. Got about an inch thus far here north of Reading. Roads are covered, 32.3°F currently. Very pretty.
  12. 32.9°F and parts of the driveway are starting to cave. Have to go to bed soon but this is pretty decent for December and I am enjoying it, regardless of how much we get.
  13. Ok so it's snowing here already... Temp still 34°F, not sticking, but really pretty in the street lights.
  14. 34.7°F here north of Reading. No precip as of yet.
  15. Dang. Haven't seen such a strong hail signature in a while. Radarscope reports 2" hail.
  16. Dang. Haven't seen a hail signature like that in quite some time...
  17. Granted, I only have four years of data from current location, but this is the earliest we've been above 80. Peaked at 85.2°F.
  18. man I stopped checking for digital snow on the GFS like a month ago. It's all fake news. Pretty to look at, and ponder at, but never real.
  19. I feel like nowcasting is the only way to see how things pan out these days. Forecasts have been utter rubbish for (checks notes...) years now? Yeesh. No disrespect to our prof mets, but yeah. Rain all afternoon today? Nope. Ten degrees lower than forecasted yesterday. Countless model-predicted snows this winter and nothing. Something is deeply amiss in our ability to forecast weather with any kind of accuracy these days. I feel like all we can do at this point is watch the radar and try to see what's going to happen in the next couple of hours. Forget being able to see anything long-term, other than painting really, really broad strokes. That said... I am somewhat concerned with the radar at the moment:
