Same areas keep getting rained on. Been that way all summer. Rivers and streams continue to dry up in the immediate area. While many of you have cashed in the last couple days, many remain dry. Not sure what it’s going to take for most around here to realize the drought locally isn’t a joke. 2 major rivers near  my location are dry…..haven't seen that in a plus years.

My area has been bad. And we finally got measurable rain the past 3 days. Not sure what rain god I impressed but seeing even dry areas are finally getting some. Sorry that your area is still in the rain hole. Hope you get some rain soon like my area finally has. I think I know what 2 rivers you are talking about.

That literally might have been the bolt I saw because I've got a pretty wide view looking s/sw.  I think I'm gonna fringed by this one, but I'm definitely hearing it.

Probably was. We just got in the northern edge of that and picked up another .16" to put todays total at 1.16". Need way more but will take it.

Yea, this was a flush hit…finally. No hail here, though, at least that I could tell.

I was worried about getting onto 15. Got on at Motter Ave and it immediately was slow. But surprisingly everyone was going slow and letting traffic merge. I expected at least one accident but got back down to the 340 exit in about 15 min. Miss J was geeking out in the car with me at the lightning strikes. Raining so hard at sometimes it was deafening. But yes jackpot in my book after a pretty abysmal rain parched summer.

  4. Just got home from picking the younger Miss J up from Frederick Community College. She has a dual enrollment class. The storm hit just as we pulled out. I have to get on 15 S to get home and debated winding our way through downtown Frederick, but decided any way it would just be a slow go. With traffic moving at a crawl, we got a spectacular show of lightning and small hail. Mr. J just showed me that the hail here at the house was about 1/4" diameter. My PWS is showing .99" off that cell. A lot of ponding over a lot of roads here as water was just running off the dry ground.

  5. So not only have the trees started to drop leaves due to the drought conditions up here. Just this weekend I started to notice corn fields, that usually are not cut down till well into Oct/Nov, are being cut early due to no ears of corn on them. These are the feed corn fields. And what has not yet been cut the stalks are already drying out. There are a few hold outs still trying to keep their lawns somewhat green. But most including myself gave up months ago. My drought tolerant plants are still holding on but I think I have lost a brand new mini azalea bush. I am hoping it has just gone dormant. The tree line behind my house is really struggling to keep leaves on. Now this oppressive heat building back in for a few days which will keep us all inside again. I do not expect much fall foliage over here at all this year.

Glad to hear they have a safer place to go to.  Hope things aren't bad after it passes

Hope they will be safe, Mrs. J...Atlanta is a good place to be.

Thanks! They got word yesterday that it was not that bad at their place. The are waiting a couple of days to head back as they take 75S to get home and want to make sure all is clear on the route.

  8. I am over the moon happy with the storm I got here. All I wanted was a good amount of rain. It has been so dry over here and while I will miss that extra stuff coming out of WV I got 1.57” out of that line. My grass and flower beds bow down to the storm gods in praise. And for a bonus got some decent wind, thunder and lightning. One strike was well after the line had moved past. Now I just need a storm at night. Sorry to see that some had major damage or lost power. I hope that the clean up and time without goes quick.
