Spittle cloud? Didn't know clouds could drool...

When we get the mist from the clouds I call it spittle. Like the clouds are spitting on us rather than a drizzle. :D

Air quality reminiscent of the worst of the wildfires 2 years ago. I’m a little sick,  but was basically choking on the air tonight. 150+ AQI = yuck

Yeah we were like that yesterday. Had to go over the mountains here in Frederick to Middletown. The sight of the smoke in the valley was present:

Mind you today we are in England with this spittle cloud cover and musty temps.

Looks like the storms are a bust today. Easterly flow drifting in appears to have crossed the I-270 corridor. Should effectively shut down any flood risk in Maryland.

We went out on the deck to eat dinner and felt cool air come through. Everything is West of the Potomac tonight.

Getting clipped here. Looks like it’s hitting the Catoctin wall

Was down picking the older Ms J. up at Dulles but watching the weather. Saw a storm headed right for our house in Frederick. Just got home and checked the gauge. Picked up 1.16” out of just that one cell.

  5. Eating lunch out on the deck. Temp wise not bad, 82 as I am still in shade on the backside facing West. Humidity though is thick 69 percent. Going to water my deck plants so when the sun does come over they are not shocked.

Life’s been pretty crazy recently so I haven’t been following weather forecasts but didn’t realize it was going to rain late last night.

Life seems to like to sneek up and bite you when you think things are going smooth. Have been there multiple times this year.

It's been cloudy every morning for the past 3 months. I feel like i live alone the coast of California with June gloom. At least the wind isn't blowing 30-50 like usual.

When Mr. J and I first moved to LA back in ’99 we were introduced to June gloom. Was quite the experience for us after hearing from our friends it was always sunny.

Hearing the thunder from that, but so far it's sliding to my SE.

It has been sitting over my area for at least the last 20 min. Not moving fast at all.

  9. Have a nice cell that started just to my immediate SW. Had some lightning with it at first now just heavy rains right over me.

ETA getting some nice fireworks again.

It has been cloudy, with periods of rain, all day here. Not surprised to be left out of the watch. Good luck/stay safe everyone else!

I thought we would be left out also. Have had the same conditions here. Was surprised to see us on the far east end of it.

Was hoping the warm front would push a little further north, but seems like it's hit a wall.  Not expecting much up here with the current temps and cloud cover except periods of showers.

Some of those showers were downpours. We went downtown to the Arts Festival. Even with umbrellas and rain jackets had to hang in a few of the tents till it let up.

  12. The ground has remained damp from the .03” that came overnight. Had some farm sitting to take care of this morning then came home and planted some flowers. Going to head downtown for the Arts Festival but feels like it will be a sticky afternoon.

  13. 0.15” from this morning. Dropped the oldest Ms. J off at Dulles for a trip up to Maine. She said it was quite a bumpy takeoff. Just made dinner and stepped out on the deck to see if we were eating out or in. Promptly decided to eat inside tonight.

Not according to the LWX text (unless they've corrected it). Their map doesn't show it either

My Weather Network app has it. But like others have said RadarScope does not show it unless you go into the current watches issued. Radar Omega is showing it though.

186 inches for the year?  That has to be wrong.

I just looked into the manual.

    Increments of Rain Definitions

Rain rate or hourly rain; Rain event; Daily rain; Weekly rain; Monthly rain; Total rain

Total rain is defined as the running total since station was powered up. So looks like at the start of every year you need to to reset the total rain amount to get a yearly reading. So will have to wait to do that. I never knew it was there to be honest.
