  1. Just took the younger Ms.J down to rehab her pony with a tack walk. Went as early as we could. Now have her back checking out of her house stay as she watches dogs. Even in the shade with a slight breeze it is nasty. They have a concert at Nats Stadium tonight and I told them that they need water up all day. But also will know the Metro will be running slower on above ground rail because of the heat.

    Currently in my backyard

  2. 7:15 and 81. Checked my station stats and looks like it never got lower than 80 overnight.
The two Ms J’s have had tickets for a concert at Nats Stadium for a few months now. It is tonight and I am not going to lie I am concerned about them being out in these temps for it. They will be in the stands and covered but still has me worried.

This might drop an inch of rain in spots.

Yes I think the Northern end might be in that spot.  I currently have .44” but it is still coming down.

  4. Blue skies here this morning few scattered clouds. At 9:15 it is 82 with humidity at 81 and dew point at 75. Went from living in England over the weekend to the armpit of the SE in GA where Mr. J lived for a while.

  5. Went from .03” to .93” from that line last night. 4.37” for the month.
That lightning early this morning was  the most intense I have seen for sometime. It was non stop.

lol it’s an absolute fireworks display rn

Yea it is! Still going and the line has mostly pushed through. Looking at RadarScope seems to only be the southern end of the line with all the lightning.

  7. That line that I thought would not hold is slamming the back of the house right now. The lightning on it alone is intense. Wind driven rain.

ETA Wow this is the loudest storm we have come through in quite awhile. Still packing a punch as the line stretched out. Lot of lightning.

Nearby rain gauges are over 0.5” here, but I think I just missed the lightning core. The peaks and valleys really do adjust systems on approach here. Can never really tell what kind of storm we’re getting until gametime.

You are correct on that. With residual left overs I have .27” in the station for today. I see that line out West but it has to get over the mountains. So thinking it will not stay intact. But could be surprised.

  9. Well that was slightly anticlimactic. Looked all robust rolling in only to do the split that my area is known for. Did pick up .22” so far but all the fury of what was coming in the energy shifted to my North with a new storm to my South near Point of Rocks.

  10. While a bit warmer out than yesterday, 71. Just got myself a nice cup of tea and popped my slippers on. :)

Also I know there are others on here with PWS in their yards. I have had my station reporting to Weather Underground for sometime now. But I finally was able to get my reporting set up for PWSWeather. It does not activate right away as it does quality checks of your station before making it active. But I have mine up and reporting now. You can find the link below in my signature. They have a handy App also for on the go.

  11. .03” sometime in the early morning hours. Have the cloud mist again this morning. The sinus suffers in the house, which includes me, have not have the easiest of times these last two days.

Spittle cloud? Didn't know clouds could drool...

When we get the mist from the clouds I call it spittle. Like the clouds are spitting on us rather than a drizzle. :D

Air quality reminiscent of the worst of the wildfires 2 years ago. I’m a little sick,  but was basically choking on the air tonight. 150+ AQI = yuck

Yeah we were like that yesterday. Had to go over the mountains here in Frederick to Middletown. The sight of the smoke in the valley was present:

Mind you today we are in England with this spittle cloud cover and musty temps.

Looks like the storms are a bust today. Easterly flow drifting in appears to have crossed the I-270 corridor. Should effectively shut down any flood risk in Maryland.

We went out on the deck to eat dinner and felt cool air come through. Everything is West of the Potomac tonight.

Getting clipped here. Looks like it’s hitting the Catoctin wall

Was down picking the older Ms J. up at Dulles but watching the weather. Saw a storm headed right for our house in Frederick. Just got home and checked the gauge. Picked up 1.16” out of just that one cell.

  16. Eating lunch out on the deck. Temp wise not bad, 82 as I am still in shade on the backside facing West. Humidity though is thick 69 percent. Going to water my deck plants so when the sun does come over they are not shocked.
