  1. If we had a gyre approaching from the South, up the coast, our temps this week would support a snow storm but yea highs the last two days have been quite mild. Maybe a little lower a few days during the work week. Not going to say we are near being below normal next week as to mdt temps but pleasantly surprised they made 26 this am.
  2. I am guessing our lows this week rival anything else we get.
  3. MDT has only seen the teens 5 nights for the entire Winter season so far....very possible they add one on this week (not a forecast, I never trust them fully) so colder is here now. Just not the way we all want it.
  4. I will have to visit Dubois some time to see what all the fuss is about.
  5. Speaking of 26 at MDT, the current lowest temp during this Met Winter has been 14 in January. That stands as a tie for the second warmest Met Winter low temp in MDT history with 3-4 weeks to go.
  6. Yep, GFS was 31 at this time of the AM. MDT actually got down to 26. The coldest reading at MDT since Jan 22nd!
  7. 24 here. I tried to suggest that last week. The CMC has colder LSV locations in the teen's multiple times over the next several days. Ironically the warmest panels are mid-month Feb with highs in the 50's and low's above freezing. The GFS this AM was 5 degrees too warm AT MDT!
  8. Not directed at you but the way some (mostly on the MA) follow patterns 15 days out as if the modeling is "better" in that period has always left me confused. Sure, could be right but it is the same modeling that people mock 2, 3 days out sometimes. Now, pattern recognition is more broad scale and less subject to minor deviations like a short term synoptic forecast but discussing what a model/group of models is showing vs taking it almost carte blanche are two different things. This is not to say the "great pattern" is not coming vs. Wonder aloud why this seemingly repeating pattern of LR forecasting keeps happening each winter. Fun to track, not fun to buy in a 15 day model guess then be left holding the bag. I think we defintely see more snow this year either way...but should not be a surprise that what looked almost perfect is subject to change at that distance.
  9. Some parts of the 2009 movie The Road were filmed there. If you go, I have a secret location to park (well some web sites know about it but not most.)
  10. Out near breezewood there is a stretch of the PA Turnpike that they abandoned. It has two tunnels. I think it is 13 miles long but we only walked a few miles. Very apocalyptic.
  11. Not digital blue hoping patterns work out but cool just the same. Closed in 1968.
  12. Nooners. 38 near breezewood on the abandoned turnpike.
  13. My amateur one installed fairly well about 6' off the ground with vent shield and little sun and got to 74 or 75. HGR was over 70 as well. I would believe anything between 70-75. Rooftop is not realistic, I agree, but some sites say it is a good way to do it. On a day like this day in particular, I am almost always going to be higher than you without any valley protection like you have.
  14. Some areas down here got up to 76, just not official stations, if that makes you feel any better. Laurel Summitt got more snow that some combos of years here.
  15. I am trying to keep it down. LOL. It is on the beginning of the last month of winter. I do not want grass. Usually my first mow is not until late April or May.
  16. Very sunny here. Still only 25. Heavy frost has put the wham jam on the grass trying to get the wrong idea.
  17. 24 this Am. Winters temps are back. Over the next 5-6 days, may see a couple mornings of 10-15 at some of the colder spots. Brrr.
  18. That is Chris Broussard who once banged out a tweet that said "Multiple Sauces have confirmed a trade" or something like that and the meme took off from there.
  19. Yea, that was my thought on bringing it up twice. The Canadian really seems to do well on days where radiational cooling seems likely.
  20. I would suspect differences in measurement technique. I have nothing to confirm that, just what I would suspect if there is anything askew.
