You guys are too young to remember the good old days before the interstates were finished. Storms were free to move around the SE as they wished resulting in more frequent and more evenly distributed snowfall. No sudden turns to follow the twin concrete ribbons to mess up a forecast back then. You could live wherever you wanted to and have a decent chance at snow. Still, it isn't right to not check on a helpless old man during and after a snowstorm.

I've been quietly sitting here all week deleting posts and waiting for the predicted heavy snow to move NW to its usual location and give me my stationary chase. Well what do you know, It happened again.:) I'm guessing I will get 10" which is my benchmark for a good storm. I grew up in NW NJ and went to school in Boone so I haven't adopted the, "if the ground is covered its a major storm" mantra of the non mountain SE. Doubt I ever will at this point. In any case, except for this once again falling at night making it harder to fully appreciate it should be fun. Also, when I post some obs later don't look for words like pounding, hammering, ripping or blasting. Intermittent, light, medium and heavy is as far as I go.

Yep. Even the sorry ass flea bitten ones we have in the SE would help a bit.

Being as this is said at some point with almost every winter storm possibility, I would say it is more normal than crazy.

For those of you that have trouble with weather terminology, in layman's terms that would be a punch to the nads.

Let me tell you something else that will help. As a new poster asking if signatures can be turned off is better than attacking another poster. That goes for anything else that ruffles your delicate feathers.

True but sometimes even if a coup is scored it isn't nearly enough to live up to the hype. As evidence, I offer this little gem from the "serious" thread. It was posted as the 12Z GFS rolled in. The poster shall remain nameless. "Complete destruction at 132-138 as low explodes off the CHS coast and rides north northeast. WOW!" Now correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't this mean that if there is a single building or piece of infrastructure remaining it is a bust low. In other words, Armageddon or Bust!!
