  1. I misread your post. I missed the “est” on low. Our average low for September is 61which is what I was referring to. I’m not sure how an extreme is necessarily basic climatology but if you think so more power to you. I tend to base my climate expectations on averages and then enjoy or hate when an extreme comes my way.
  2. What Triad would that be? Certainly not the one I live in.
  3. The long range outlook is for a cold snowy winter in 3472. Humans will be long gone and the co2 level will be dropping.
  4. I am one of those old people of which you speak. You asked for it. It gets earlier every year. Top Six Southern Winter Folklore Sayings 1. If you count the morning fogs in August you will know how many August mornings were foggy. 2. A heavy crop of acorns will lead to fatter than average squirrels next spring. 3. If it thunders in winter, 10 days later it will have happened 10 days ago. 4. If you study the bands of the wooly worm you will know how many are brown and how many are black. 5. Snow that lays on the ground for more than three days is dirty. 6. A ring around the moon means your Lasik surgeon screwed up.
  5. Yep. A map like that could make the difference between 35º and rain and 33º and rain.
  6. I did 2 years in Germany. I was a bit further north near Frankfurt. Except a lot of gray foggy days but very little in the way of snow. Cool summers though.
  7. Where in Germany are you stationed?
  8. An engine block heater might be he solution.
  9. Hell no!! Just kidding.
  10. Ah yes, the oft talked about but seldom seen SE winter weather. Old men talk of it at their early morning McDonalds coffee meetings but most younger folks think it is nothing but a myth.
  11. I didn’t close it but, it quickly morphed into bat-shit-crazy.
  12. Florida has barely started testing. Australia is just getting started. Time will tell.
  13. FYI If you want to discuss all the things going on with the virus but understandably do not want to go over to the political board there is a kinder gentler thread running now in our off topic section.
  14. I give this winter a solid D-. I reserve the grade of F exclusively for my least favorite type of winter. Very cold, very windy but no snow. The older I get the more I hate that combination.
  15. Archdale, NC my backyard 16 years ago tonight.
  16. It wasn’t meant for you. I deleted the posts in question.
  17. It is hard to take any model seriously when each and every week they print out single storm totals that no person alive has ever seen.
  18. That's what I thought too. I bought one and it only lasted four years. It was a cutting monster while it lasted. I got my current Deere in 04.
  19. I stopped raking years ago. A mulching attachment on my Deere. Just mow as normal and presto, a clean yard. In fact I mulch 100% of the time now. I don't get those irritating rows of grass cuttings when I wait a bit to long to mow.
  20. I'm 72 years old(don't say a damn thing) and 10 years ago I had never mowed my yard in November, December, January or February. Now January is the only non-mowing month I have left. I will not mow in January no matter what. In other news I have daffodils six inches tall with visible buds. A few more warm days and they will bloom.
  21. Many here wouldn't even notice it. They would be too busy downloading and posting 340 hour maps.
