I was underneath one of those while driving home, but it turned into a sun shower closer to home. My station only recorded 0.02” from it.

Yesterday was my 2nd wettest day of this summer and it was generally sunny to partly cloudy (and hot). Day was far from a waste, most rain fell overnight and after 7PM from fairly short lived thunderstorms. Bottomed out at 66, which was the coolest it’s been since July. Currently 68, I can’t recall the last time it was this cool at this hour, it feels alien.

Pouring here, rates over 2” per hour. Up to 0.81” so far today.....0.48” overnight, 0.02” this afternoon, 0.31” so far with this storm. Crappy drone shot:

Getting a (heavy) sun shower right now. Yet less than a half mile away, my station registered only 0.02”. Dew point jumped to 78 with a temp of 83.

I should’ve went, still haven’t gone this summer. 85/77/95 here.

Storm had enough thunder and lightning to wake me up in the middle of the night, received 0.48” from it.

87/77. This jungle humidity is relentless, my average max dew point this month is 76.4°. It’s a good thing I enjoy this kind of weather.

Another 89 added to the list, this makes 5. I’ve had 11 90+ days so far. Not sure what’s considered normal here, LI climo is a bit quirky.

Funny how normal dews (~70°) feel noticeably dry. Made it up to 92° and it didn’t even feel that hot. My max dew points so far this month: 8/01 - 78 8/02 - 80 8/03 - 78 8/04 - 78 8/05 - 76 8/06 - 76 8/07 - 78 8/08 - 78 8/09 - 77 (midnight) I’ve actually had more days with 75°+ dews (25 days) this year than days with dews between 70°-74° (20 days). Insanity.

Picked up 0.15” overnight, and I received a few close lightning alerts from the severe warned storm over north-central Suffolk.

Best light show I’ve seen in years. Photogenic lightning in all directions while driving on the LIE. Saw a bolt come down dead center over the roadway and branch out in opposite directions (like an upside down letter T), each branch was miles long.

Lights flickering. Frequent thunder. Picked up 0.52” so far.

Wow just had a close CG strike just outside my window, probably within a few hundred feet. Saw lightning and heard thunder at the exact same time. Pouring now, but the best part of the storm looks like it’ll miss me.

Hope these storms don’t miss me to the southwest. With my luck they will.

Topped out at 93, stayed above 90 a lot longer than yesterday, despite yesterday reaching 94.
