Yeah, especially when those snow bands extend far northeast. You can get locked in. . -
That BUF lake effect event towards the end of the week looks to be a good one. I was up there for the Nov. 2014. What an event to witness. Very similar look but with record warm lake temperatures. The thundersnow was good in the 2014 event but will be off the chain with this event. .

GFS thermals are better than previous runs….interesting. .

This could happen in mid January, and we (south and east of I81) would be in trouble. When I was a kid and heard, "double barrel" low pressures, I would get so excited. Now I think, "ok, here comes the warm layers. No chance east of the mountains".
