System performed as expected here. Forecast was for 6 inches and i'd say it's snowed 5 since around 6 am with things beginning to wind down. High temp was 30.

Hey, thanks! Chickens are fine, all 16 have stayed laying throughout winter. They're just rowdy and pissy, wanting spring like most of us. Not so quick, however. Looks like another wet snow moves in starting tonight with 8 inches forecast for a small sliver through my neck of the woods.

switched from rain to snow in Warsaw, Indiana in just the past few minutes. Snowing nice. Live Webcam Village at Winona Lake, Indiana, USA (webcamtaxi.com)

No shoveling roofs this winter, and my house is nicely insulated so I don't have any major ice issues either. The wood stove stack does create a little bit but it's never been a problem... so far. Should I receive another heavy snow, I may pull some off the edge.

The girls are NOT happy. They're starting to pick fights with each other. I'm gonna dig out their run today so they can get some fresh air and sun.

7.5 inches of snow late yesterday and through the night. That brings the 8 day total here to 42 inches and the season total around 200 inches. This bird feeder hangs 6 feet off the ground roughly.

Trixie's entire account was deleted late Friday night by a vengeful admin. In response a mod went and retroactively suspended/banned a slew of posters for things deemed offensive in the past. According to some a good chunk of this board is apparently bigoted, sexist, racist, and homophobic assholes. IDK

Prior to 1960 the office was in Marquette at the Coast Guard station. It was moved to its current location (well it's torn down now but it use to be right about where the current office is located) because literally it was right next door to KSAW. Then when Sawyer AFB closed the airport moved to the old base. I think it's cool to have a WFO deep within a snow belt.

Models did not overstate the snow here. Snow started coming in off the lake just before dawn yesterday. Snowed 5 inches by dark, then 7 inches overnight, and looks like around 8 inches today, so far. Ratios are running 20:1.

13 for the low but milder 30's will creep back in this week with a weak mixed bag system. Hopefully something a little more meaningful later in the week. Fire pit and picnic table area buried in the backyard. On average, it will be 3 more months before the snow is completely gone.

-6 last night. Coop went as low as -2. Tonight's low is forecast at -15. That's getting awful close to the too cold threshold for these particular birds. I've never used a heat source in their coop but am tempted to tonight even tho my gut says don't. All I have is a heat lamp(which'll do the trick)... if I choose to use it I'll stay awake all night to make sure nothing goes awry. If only the wind had a tad more northerly component, I'd have solid cloud cover and be off the hook.

11.2" of snow here at the house (more than half of that falling between 8:30 and 1:00) with another 6 or so to go by morning. As of 5 pm MQT has recorded 11.4" (1.22 liquid), both of which were a daily record. depth is 33 inches -

I'd estimate without the lake/upslope enhancement with this system, It'd probably have been a 5-7 inch storm. The "Uncle" was in jest...lol -

Don't mean to sound flippant. Living here was a dream of mine since a boy. I'm always excited for a thumping. -

I feel for everyone out there hungry for snow but I'm not going to complain. Point here has 14 inches. -
Set a record at MQT: "With temperatures failing to fall below 31 degrees yesterday, the record for warmest January 16th low temperature at NWS Marquette has been tied, with the previous record being set in 1980." Light freezing rain most of the day and night has things pretty iced up out there... has since changed over to a misty snow. Could see a foot through the week.

Crazy warmth up here so far this month, especially the night time lows. The departure at MQT is an incredible +9.2... It has however remained below freezing until today when it reached 34. Tonight's low should run 28 degrees above the average low of 2 which will lead to a mixed bag of crap tomorrow. Hopefully will see a few inches of wet snow as the system departs. A lot of Winter still left. Snow depth reading 23 inches this evening.
