  1. Matt, you are SW of me I believe. What is the most accumulated untouched snow depth you've ever seen at your location? Does this area get Icestorms? On Long Island we always deal with a rain snow line which quickly changes LI snow to rain especially with a SE wind. We love it up here; learning other things other than weather related things Glad I made the move but still have my other house on LI and a family house in the Catskills so in the rare case NYC/LI is to be blasted or a N'Easter serves up a Catskills special I'll go to that location!
  2. Snowiest winter for me was on long Island was 1995-96 where Central park in Manhattan recorded around 75 inches for the SEASON and that was astounding Most snow on the ground I ever experienced was about 2 feet ( not drifts) I will learn the climatology here. Different living here than the Catskills or Long Island. Glad i moved here
  3. From Channel 5 at 6PM, puts Cicero in 3-6 zone which is half what the NWS says As a newbie up here, who is more accurate since 5 miles can make a difference, even 2 miles like I saw yesterday. 3-6 for Cicero, I'll take it!
  4. Cicero NY 3:00PM : Steady light snow, Temp 32.3 degrees Wet driveway, car top, fencing coated
  5. Nice steady light snow here in Cicero. Hoping for a couple of inches by tomorrow. I wonder if a WWA will be hoisted for Onondaga
  6. Thank God all worked out well for her after healing !
  7. In Cicero, 3.5 yesterday, a half an inch this morning up to 4 inches, once in shy of you which squares it seems with the Brewerton 1 inch more than Cicero NWS probabilistic snow predictions
  8. Half inch here too in Cicero, hopefully an inch or 2 here later and into tonight
  9. My observations of relocating to Cicero NY as my main place as opposed to Long Island WOW! First I am confused how Channel 3 NBC and Channel 5 CBS ( Syracuse channels ) share the same met Peter Hall during these channels same respective news slots Final snow depth from our nice little snowfall in Cicero was 3.5 inches My wife and I went to the fairgrounds today to get our booster. After driving three miles from exit 30 (rt 31) to around exit 27 I went from snow cover to nada Imagine had I bought in Brewerton, Mallory or Central Square. ( National Grid does not provide natural gas past a certain point and that was key) Anyway, like Peter Hall as a weather authority though have to find out why he is on 2 channels Hopefully a couple of inches tomorrow into Thursday
  10. Brewerton is just 4 miles north of here , next exit north on i81, actually almost bought there Still getting Moderate snow here *EDIT* Heavty snow. How much did downtown SYR get?
  11. Good Morning ! Have not been outside yet in Cicero but I'd have to say about 2 to 3 inches. Not bad as i experience living in Lake effect country Curious about amounts nearby to Cicero! Jeff
  12. In Cicero ! I have Webcams now installed here, in liberty and in Lynbrook, yeah 3 family homes only 2 mine. I'll gladly post pics when necessary What I noticed which is odd is that NBC 3 and CBS 5 share the same broadcast, never saw that before. I like their met ( Peter )
  13. Had graupel in Cicero, actually my wife pointed that out to me. I will be watching radar and I had floods put up at key locations so I can see the flakes easily Hooking up my 5 in 1 acurite to add to my two others in the Catskills and Long Island on Weather Underground
  14. Up in Cicero NY now which will be for 2 weeks straight Getting use to local tv channels I like CBS TV5 as they mentioned poss 3-6 maybe from route 31 north( I am right off rt 31) I just wish to see my driveway cleared of snow by the company I hired for the season Hopefully fun times ahead
  15. Gonna be fun, have the driveway markers for snow blowing, not plowing. $385 for the season I have a problem with lawn care $1,800 for lawn cuts ( 27 cuts or so) and weed killer and grass seed But for Landscaping they want $2,500 to trim hedges , bushes, plants etc, then another 1200 each for spring cleanup and fall cleanup I pay $1,500 for EVERYTHING on Long Island and in the Catkskills I cut my own grass Recommendations taken happily
  16. Matt, Any worse then on Long Island winds going from Northeast to Southeast? Hopefully I'll see 6 inches in Cicero between Late tonight and Saturday afternoon when I leave I have cameras mounted so I can always "see" the weather from Cicero wherever i am and same with two other houses Now do I dare go into outdoor hot tub owners left ( brand new). Heard it's awesome but can't imagine walking out from it
  17. Three houses I own, one in Lynbrook in Nassau County, one in Liberty in Sullivan County and one now in Cicero (Ononangda County.) After T day turkey in Liberty later heading for Cicero this evening since LES kicking in. Kitchen update being redone so just a mini fridge and mini microwave there Takeout 1-2 miles away, hope my AWD SVU will handle roads up there well but I heard with 3-6 inches it shouldn't be too bad to go out ( hope so) Learning about the sweets pots of where heavier snows fall, almost like the Heavier snows for NYC are usually to the North and West of the city Jeff
  18. Your neighbor here in Cicero where i Just relocated to. Clay and Cicero similar snow wise, right? Also, what do you mean by fake snow? Jeff
  19. Hey all, I am now a proud owner of a home in Cicero, NY around 10 miles North of Syracuse on I81 Still shuffling between Liberty NY in Sullivan County's Catskills and Lynbrook Long Island (Nassau County ) 10 minutes from JFK airport. I do have a weather cam set up there to monitor my property and snow. House getting a new kitchen so won't be there for an extended period of time until the end of December Looking forward to sharing observations with my 3rd acurite weather station and really seeing LES Be interesting to see how Cicero ranks against neighboring areas I know of like Camilius, Manlius and Brewerton in comparison Most interesting to me will be to see is if Cicero outperforms downtown Syracuse (Snowiest USA major city. I can see historical records for SYR but not Cicero If you are around Cicero give me a shout here My wife and I love the area and I am happy to be there and as I might have said in an earlier post; I can also go to Liberty NY or Lynbrook Long Island if that is where the snow action is. Hopefully, fun times ahead!
  20. Checking in to my liberty NY weather station 2.5 inches so far, identical unit in Lynbrook, rain gauge decided to malfunction today
