That back-door front sure gave us a "wedgie" but the sun is finally peaking out. WV is cooking with temps in the mid/upper 80s
-
Low of 33. Looking forward to some beautiful weather starting today
-
That's a great pic! I was in Calvert last weekend and saw a couple tigers. None up in upper MontCo yet

WTOP has an article on the 20-year anniversary of the La Plata Tornado. What a monster that thing was

Still just 44 at mid-day on April 28 with full sun. Impressive
-
Overcast, 36 and breezy but the hummingbirds are undeterred and visiting both feeders
-
Those were some impressive hail pics and videos! I was in Orlando in spring 1992 and there was an incredible storm that left hail inches deep in parts of that area.
Breezy and cool today but looking forward to a nice Friday and Saturday

This isn’t a photo from winter is it? This is from today?
I've seen pics of accumulated hail like that, but when you look at the woods in the distance they look bare like winter

So I did a lot of complaining in this thread last year about the literal billions of helicopter seeds that the three maples in my back yard spew in every direction for weeks. (Huge mistake planting those darn things 20 years ago).
Well this year they are going straight to leaves with no seeds at all! How did that happen? Maybe the very warm winter thus less stress on the trees? Talk about a pleasant surprise

Mostly sunny in upper MontCo now what a beautiful afternoon!
We visited Calvert yesterday and went to a restaurant on the bay in Herrington Harbor. It was near 80 at my parents' house on Rt 4 but it felt like the AC was running by that bay just a few miles away

Snow is obvious on the Brunswick Jefferson and Myersville cams. Probably on all the ones west of there also.
Wow check out those cams in the Frostburg area!

Our hummingbird has been coming back and forth to the feeder despite temps starting in the upper 30s. Tough little bugger!
I am looking forward to the warmth coming later this weeks as I really want to get my trays of flower seedlings back out in the sun

Cloudy and 40 after starting in the upper 30s. April is always good for a Gulf low up the east coast, isn't it? I'll just do indoor stuff and salivate over next weekend's forecast!

Hummingbirds arrived yesterday! Looking forward to hitting some garden centers over the next few weeks

Today is gonna be great! I don't mind the chill coming because it's going to be raining anyway. Looking real nice again by mid next week
It's officially spring for me as my hummingbirds have arrived

North Beach, MD at 84 and a buoy just a couple miles out in the bay is 58 with wind of 18 mph!
A toasty 84 in Germantown as well. I wish we could just average this and early next week temps
-
Overall grade of D for upper Montgomery County, MD. Had several small snows for a winter total of around 12-ish, and was the third straight winter without a significant snow (6" or more). Hoping the "law of average" comes into play for next winter.
-
Had a little sleet this morning and now it's sunny and 60! I looked at the obs map and saw 40s in Garrett Co while parts of WV not far away are in the 80s
-
Just had a pretty good wind-blown graupel shower in Germantown -- temp was 47 when it started. That's the highest temp I've ever seen frozen precip
-
-
Partly sunny and 75.
70s stretch from NH all the way to FL
-
This is awesome, 70 and sunny! Got the little garden seedlings on the deck getting their first taste of sun

all the math involved in weather is why i switched to cartography/gis my junior year I had to take calc 101 twice before I said f-it, it's not meant to be
Wanted to major in met at FSU which specializes in hurricanes. Calc 2 and physics convinced me to go with business instead

what I'm thinking of was like 2-3 inches in germantown. I think it was 3/30/14. happened during the day, huge flakes. there was a ton of slush everywhere
I'm pretty sure you're right that it was March 30. It capped off a ridiculous March with a 5-6" cold powder the first week, 10 inches on the 17th, then that March 30 event. Crazy

My maples are full leafed out now with not a single whirlybird seed. I can't believe it! Maybe it was that chainsaw stare I gave them last summer
