  1. It seems like more than ever some places get huge rains while others get very little.  It is really weird.  I was hoping this one would be more spread out but nope, all the heavy stuff is just to my east and southeast and can't get here.

Some minor activity came at me from the south.  Lined up right at me, then skipped 1/2  mile to my east as it arrived at my door step.  Nearby PWS has. .35" and climbing.  Sprinkles here...

Some good stuff over and SW of Strasburg moving your way -- hopefully holds together

Euro’s got 5” for you over the next several days.

If that verified, NPZ would replace the desert pic with the lush green one like a few years ago.

Some nice-looking showers developing to the south moving north.  We do well with those (it's the west-to-east movers that miss me more often than not)

WPC qpf forecast for the next 7 days. Could be even more than that, esp for areas west of DC. I will hope for even less than depicted for my yard, as I have excavation work scheduled for late week.

    NPZ's rainhole shows up nicely

Bummed to be missing a fun weather week - pretty nice down here in Nags Head, but got kicked off the beach by distant thunder, as has been the theme all summer.

Good to hear about Nags Head!  My sister and family are there and she was very worried about a dreary week.  Latest forecast looks a lot better than it did a couple days ago.

We got kicked off north OC on Friday for a thunderstorm sliding east a few miles to the north.  Any idea what the rule is -- just audible thunder?  People were mad because everyone seems to have radar on their phones and were complaining that it's not coming this way :P

On a dumb note, after an early morning TS that missed very close but with visible CTG bolts right over the water just 1-2 miles out, there was a guy with two little kids running around on the sand

  6. As we were packing up to come home from OC early yesterday morning, we had a surprise thunderstorm develop literally a few thousand feet to the east and move away, which I was glad for since we were loading the car.  I got to see some great lightning strikes over the water and could see the heavy curtain of rain maybe 2000 feet away.  I tried taking a pic but it didn't work.

It was a good view of what it looks like when I get Germantowned with a storm missing me by a mile or two.  Here is what it looked like on radar as it blew up

  7. Whew hx already 103 here in Ocean City, but that might be as bad as it gets.  Each day has been stinking hot by 10-11 am, then the S breeze kicks in and it get nice.  Same expected today with S wind of around 10 mph.

Hoping to score some thunderstorms at home on Saturday, but I know Germantown...

  8. Whew boy it's a hot one in OCMD today -- 88/78 with hx 102 and a light west wind.  I am hoping that swings around to S at about 10 mph and the temp will back off a little.

Still nothing like when we used to go to Atlantic Beach, NC where it could be 92/78 at 9 pm

  9. A relative told us of her friend that had those mite bites and scratched her shoulder so much she got an infection and went to a walk-in clinic.  They found a line moving down her arm and told her go to the ER right away.  She ended up on I.V. antibiotics.

  10. Checked in on Germandesert and saw 0.00 as expected.  I'm glad my neighbor is watering our deck plants and garden bed or we would have returned to everything dead with 90s and zero rain all week.  It will not rain there again for weeks.

  11. Been a rainy afternoon and evening in OC MD.  Rainfall map has 1.46 for my location in north OC, with some 3.5 inch amounts not too far to the west.  Got one period of wind swept heavy rain and winds of about 35.

Weather looking great starting tomorrow.  I watered the garden back at the desert real heavy this morning.

First real rainy morning on the MD shore since July 23rd.  Now I am hoping the models are correct that my last day on the beach tomorrow clears out in time for one more swim.   Overall, it was great beach weather for my two weeks, and next week looks good as well.

We are in OCMD next week.  I feel fortunate with the way it's looking.  We used to go to the Atlantic Beach, NC area -- looks terrible down there this week!
