  1. That’s pretty iron clad. I’m in ALB today and would say mostly cloudy or filtered sunshine. Even a few scattered drops from a mid-level deck at one point. 72/46 is pretty damn nice here though regardless of if sky is deep blue or filtered sun through mid-level.
  2. I’m convinced we could get multiple posters shoulder-to-shoulder in a field and every single one would describe the observed weather in front of them differently.
  3. I know you two are just in some weird dance with each other but each of those obs look like 4 layers of scattered cloud decks? Like if there’s 4 in an observation then there are 4 layers or heights of clouds… some of those even have 5 layers.
  4. Do you and Ken get alerts when each other post? Or is this an auto-canned message that AI generates when anything cool is mentioned? lol. It’s like clockwork. <If words cool, BN, cloudy, rain, showers, are mentioned, respond with dialog about perfect weather immediately />
  5. Had to drive down to White Plains, NY today and then heading to Albany. Went I-91 to 84 and then over into NY… Looks like June once south of Springfield with all the leaves and greenery, love it. However it’s warmer up in northern VT… car says 62F here while MVL just hit 70F.
  6. It was low 50s and showery with a ceiling around 2kft this afternoon. Did hit 61F at 11am but was all downhill from there with wet-bulb cooling in showers. Finally broke up and dried up rapidly between 5-6pm. Its crazy how comfortable it is as long as the sun is out. Even temps in the 50s feel all good when the sun is out. Coming out of winter, it all feels mild.
  7. Guess the dog shoulder deep in snow and birch trees bent to the ground do it in much fewer words. A photo is worth a thousand words they say?
  8. Nah those are just general weather observations in a weather observation thread… you always think those are trolling posts. It’s just what is happening outside like everyone else does .
  9. Disregard. Suns out now for final 90 minutes of daylight, ha. Great pattern!!
  10. I’m now regretting not posting that every time it snowed last winter .
  11. 53-54F at MVL all afternoon with occasional showers. Been awesome. Sucks to suck up here.
  12. Some good downpours this afternoon. Small convective cells but can drop a quick quarter inch.
  13. Weather twitter has been game changing in the quest for easy access twister content. These vids are always high-end.
  14. Had an apartment building and auto body shop burn down Sunday morning in Stowe from a lightning strike. That stuff is wild and unlucky.
  15. Snowpack at the picnic tables remains near normal with the long term average. This season has been pretty normal on the whole for the snow department, snowfall and snowpack. Pretty crazy for Dec/Jan/Feb to average +8 and then a +6.3 March… even April is +2.5. Statistically, to have these departures in the winter and still see normal snowfall, it’s a weird combo.
  16. Ha that reads more confrontational than it did in my head . Just I guess we all have our times of year when things seem to drag on in the sticks like some Noah Kahan song.
  17. Sunset is 7:53pm today. That helps a lot this time of year. I find spring almost intoxicating due to the sun, regardless of leaf out. Fall/autumn to me is super depressing once sticks are left and before the snow falls. Just lucky to have snow cover to brighten things up for the majority of winter. Maybe this time of year is the trade off down there because I don’t know how some of you do 4-5 months of November gray and rain in the winter.
  18. Yeah some of the ground growth is starting to green up with very small leaves opening, probably the shallow root stuff? A lot of buds though. When it happens, it should happen fast as it usually does. One day sticks, the next day that bright, light green color.
  19. Hills do. The classic sharp gradient from spring to snow still exists around 2k feet. Skinned up for a lap after work before the dog walk. Still 4 feet on the ground at the Picnic Tables.
  20. I never know what leaf out actually means. Is it buds? Full leaves? Something in between? Like walking the dog now in the valley bottom… is the tree on the right in the foreground leafed out?
  21. I've always wanted to see Hazen's Notch up north. There's a bunch of cool roads around through the gaps. Granville Gulf on RT 100 is a great drive too with cool topography, wetlands, river.
  22. RT 108 in Smugglers Notch probably has a bit of time left before it opens to the public. This last bit of snow should go relatively fast, then they have some repair work to do from a variety of water damage during the many thaws this winter had. My guess is the road opens between May 5 and May 10? Closer to May 5? Still some snow on the road and ground up there above 1,800ft and especially above 2,000ft where the road maxes out around 2,200ft. Even evidence of ice falls and wet avalanches reaching the road elevation from up high. Just an awesome topography zone and feels wild and western. Hard to replicate in Vermont.
