  1. A solid above normal stretch in progress. 40/23 is the mid-March average, the maximum temps in this forecast will continue to melt the snowpack during an increasingly steep sun angle. Not one night expected to be below normal in the next 10 days?
  2. Mid-60s and spring skiing bonanza today. Even the picnic tables were in the 50s up high under full sun most of the day... warmer at the summits than those CT/RI readings.
  3. BTV’s snow map for meteorological winter… Dec-Feb. Oct/Nov or Mar+ not included. Westfield and @J.Spin with the highest totals under 1,200ft. Both spots are on the immediate east slope. 166” vs 165.6”. Up on the mountain… 296” cumulative total at the Mansfield High Road plot at 3,014ft. Every measurement documented with a photo.
  4. It’s a real fun pickup when the dog logs are wet, and saturated from the melt out. As someone who tries to grab every dump my dog takes, you realize in the spring how bad you were at it when it was snowing daily.
  5. What a day outside on the mountain.
  6. Snowpack crying for its mama in town. Anywhere from like 6” to 16” but we are going to start seeing wide areas of bare ground after the next two days.
  7. Even here on the backyard waterway (in the valley bottom), saw some jammed ice from the recent thaw. But it’s flushing itself out in a controlled manner with these sunny mild days.
  8. Yes, agreed. Like a trend line of temperature dataset over 120 years angling in a consistent direction. It is what it is.
  9. I do not believe this. If it was just about the money, folks would accept the science. People don’t accept the science.
  10. It’s crazy to me that looking at a 50 year trend line is polarizing.
  11. Wait what? We all understand how averages work right? Weather events vs. climate? The deep south can torch for a year but get a rogue snow event and everything is not what it seems?
  12. This is wild for a science board. Seems rooted more in politics than science.
  13. What do you want people to be outraged by? That winter felt ok but wasn’t?
  14. We did 62F yesterday and sub-freezing today. Decent day to day change.
  15. I did Norway in early June like a decade ago. It was like 1am and people were BBQing in parks in ambient glow light. Its a mind f*ck for it to never get fully dark.
  16. I love snow but cannot empathize with his plight. It’s glorious outside. Hoodie walking the dog, 42F and sun feels so warm. Pack started the day at 21” after last night’s 6”. Now the trees are snow free, birds chirping, like a different season all the sudden.
  17. A little jealous. Looking forward to tomorrow.
  18. High expectations. Trying not to let the past 4-5 winters cloud judgement.
  19. It's been a decent gradient type season. Once north of the gradient, it's been a respectable season for wintry vibe. The lack of torches during prime winter months definitely helped spread the "old school winter" phrase around. Moisture steaming into the terrain. Been snowing hard, 1-2” per hour. 4.5” fluff so far. +SN.
  20. HRRR is fairly robust for tonight’s clipper from here to the Mainers/KLEW.
