Oh we definitely get downslope warmth here though. We have 3,000ft rises on either side. That’s what gives the 40 degree diurnal ranges. BTV doesn’t get fake cold to be honest. Just doesn’t happen. Champlain Valley is wide and often well-mixed at night. They don’t decouple like east of the Spine or into the Adirondacks.

Yeah not much real weather here. Fake heat, fake cold, fake snow.

Yeah just less diurnal ranges, our records are more like 130 degree ranges. Can be 98F, or -33F.

That low of only -13F too is interesting. Guess the low diurnal ranges go with lower climo extremes… only about 100 degree range in max and min.

So you’re probably like 91/78 in the woods, while the fields are like 97/69. Might pull an 80F dew on the Davis.

What do you think your max is the next few days under the trees? Can your spot hit 93F? I don’t know what your max is in the forest.

Good post, Tip. It is interesting, it's 68F here at 11am and just doesn't have that feel of big heat coming. But tomorrow's high is 94F from NWS.

It’s always all the small unforeseen factors that keep us from regularly getting two feet of snow. High-end is rare for a reason. I still think this will be a very impactful period, regardless of where it ranks. Multiple days of high daytime heat, with high overnights due to elevated dew points… you feel this is you are outside for a long period of time. Or if your job is outside. Hopefully folks can go home to a cool environment. The toughest is working outside or needing to spend significant time outside, then going home to another hot space.

Luckily the other 6 months are an all out swampy heater.

Yeah we went a low of 36F to high of 72F. May type stuff. Now Hades arrives.

Yeah they need a good nocturnal southerly jet to stay well mixed all night. Usually ends up dipping into the mid/upper 70s. I do feel like they had an 80+ min in recent years, but then the temp dropped under 80F by midnight the next night.

Wonder if BTV sees a minimum above 80F during this. That airport just does not cool off at all in these heaters. I’ll bet there’s some 80s after midnight at BTV.

Damage (in Tolland).

Bears everywhere lately. I think they are hilariously curious creatures. From a friend in Stowe… “what you cooking in there?” Theres a video of this bear swinging in a hammock down in Waitsfield (MRG, Sugarbush area). And another friend had a bear basically asking him if he wanted to just open the trash shed, or if he, the bear, should just remove the boards one by one until he got in.

We had 36F this AM. Long gone now, ha.

It’s the last chilly evening 9-10pm before the inferno. Windows and sliders needing to be closed. Its going to be a bit before we see tonight’s temps again, as this cools off until morning.

Yeah today is a bit too chilly. Even BTV staying under 70F, mountain valleys in low-60s. Dews just down to 39F now. Going to be a chilly night.

It’s impressive how quick things can change. High of 64F today despite sunshine. It’ll be 30 degrees hotter in a few days.

No warmth today though. 56F at base and 46F up top of the Gondola. Kids in winter hats and gloves, at the top of the Gondola lol. 61F at MVL in the valley at noon.

We do +5 to +9 months like it’s nothing at this point. Summer used to be the time when it was harder to do the big departures over +2 or +3. Not anymore lol.

Great weekend weather for sure. For tonight into tomorrow, strong radiational cooling will drive temperatures into the 40s. Parts of the Northeast Kingdom and Adirondacks are likely to fall down into the 30s. Saranac Lake is forecast to reach 33 at present, coming close to a daily record of 32 early Sunday morning. Some patchy frost has been applied, mostly in the northern Adirondacks. Sunday should be very pleasant with dry weather and light winds. High temperatures will generally be in the 70s. &&

If it’s going to get hot, let’s go for high-end and records.
