  1. It's weird as I rarely have any issue with deer flies up here. Rarely run into them out and about. Black flies can linger for a long time though. When I go visit in the woods of NE CT the deer and horse flies are absolutely unrelenting. Like to the point you can't even walk the dog. Those sucks are the size of pennies. None of that up here that I ever see.
  2. That’s a good difference. Like here to BTV… 64F in Stowe and 73F at BTV. Feeling a bit more humid this evening with dews in upper 50s.
  3. BTV is above normal precip since April 1st though… I just looked. It’s not much but like 0.40” above normal April 1 - June 1. Looks like they were about 10% above normal water in March too. It hasn’t been dry up this way but they are in the banana belt.
  4. Holy crap. Never seen them up here or seen anything like that in BTV either though it’s been a minute since I’ve been in Burlington proper.
  5. 72/52 Going to be another above normal day but comfortable.
  6. Half inch up here. Guess it did finally start raining last night.
  7. Radar is a lot more bark than bite. 0.04" here, enough to wet the ground. Looking at the PWS around NY/New England, so far it's 0.0-0.10" for most, largely under 0.05" despite a green radar. The stuff in E.NY is starting to add a slight bit of water but the first half of radar echoes with this line looks like mostly virga.
  8. That’s definitely the type of place no one wants COC weather. Like Aruba, Dominican, Jamaica, etc… you live the beach life, you want mins of like 82F at night. Once palm trees are around, it’s time for big heat/humidity, low diurnal changes, etc.
  9. Tolland does have that strong beach vibe to go with it… boardwalk, surf shops, open air tiki bars everywhere.
  10. Jalapeño… not sure I ever had a drink like that. We just drown our rainy summers in IPAs . Vacation looks awesome as it should be, enjoy dude.
  11. Yeah today is well above normal. An awesome 81/55 right now. Normal max temp is 72F at MVL… so good +10 en route today. Yesterday was +6 on the max temp. Today’s low-80s are about mid-summer normals. So it’s summer out there.
  12. I like the extremes in short bursts though. The novelty of it. But the older I get the less desire I have to be outside in uncomfortable weather. Used to love the challenge of working on the mountain at -30F or 90F and humid…. like a challenge. Now it’s like if it could stay between 20F and 80F annually we’re all set even not working outside anymore… aka boring deflated weenie.
  13. Brutal cold can suck it too, lol. Hate the sub-zero days.
  14. Yeah September has felt much more uncomfortable than May/June but the seasonal lag that 40/70 mentioned makes a lot of sense. I feel like the dews linger into October too.
  15. I agree but I enjoy this time of year most seasons… we tend to be further away from the Atlantic mank and get over the top warmth. Running +1 to +5 in the spring to early summer is a fine climo to live in around these parts. A lot of highs in the 70s when normals were 60s.
  16. I think every single one of those is above normal except for 1 or 2 days. Fantastic June.
  17. First ever full melt on the forums in early June?
  18. Ha, you guys are funny. DIT thinking it’ll split around him and rain heavily eastern Mass or Berkshires westward… you are like nope, won’t rain heavy in E.MA. I have no idea what it’ll do, but it reads like everyone has a different reason for why it won’t rain in a particular gridpoint .
  19. Black flies exploded today at they were biting on the mountain. Very little wind, maybe they’ve been around but the past two days had next to none… today I felt like I was their deep fried Turkey thigh at a rural county fair. Just getting devoured.
  20. It’s early June… take the water? Wait for the hit/miss season in July/August. See what Stein has to say, ha. The 2-m rolling temp anomalies stayed above normal in the means too on the GEFS, so probably some dews and elevated mins. Likely the period averages out above normal as it always does. Anyway, another beautiful sunny June day in the 70s and low 80s this afternoon (above normal).
  21. Wouldn’t the rain be beneficial? Its like on one hand everyone wants to complain about it being dry but also doesn’t want any rain from May to October lol.
  22. I was thinking about that today... most certainly an underrated month. Sneakily becoming one of my favorites over the last several years. The long daylight, mix of air masses, mostly the long daylight, ha. Hanging out at the picnic tables on the Octagon Deck at 5-6pm today and it felt like the middle of the afternoon because the sun doesn't set for 3 hours. Average valley temps this time of year are 72/47, seasons in seasons for the win.
  23. The irony is it should... those things are like magnets to tourists and locals alike. There are still a couple good piles along the Toll Road from when it was plowed off by the snowcats at the end of the season. Found a dozen people on one the other day with 7 cars stopped alongside. Like they found the last Infinity Stone.
  24. Sounds terrible. It seems almost physically impossible at this point to get a cool wet summer relative to normal. So we’ve got that going for us. Even June is already above normal. Been very comfortable and nice weather… but yet +1 to +3 the last few days.
